10 Ways To Anti-age Your Body

Aging is an inevitable process awaiting all of us. Even though we cannot prevent it, there are some ways we can alleviate its results. The advice on how to anti-age your body encompasses all aspects of our life: diet, water intake, sleep, exercise but also some medical treatments such as cosmetic corrections.

What’s important is that we can’t achieve some amazing results in a short period. We have to start with some lifestyle changes and healthy habits way before we start to notice the aging on our skin. The following steps will help you look and feel younger.

1. Eat a healthy, balanced diet

A healthy, balanced diet is the basis for a healthy life. It helps you look fit and in shape and it also makes your skin glow. You should base your diet on omega-3 fats and anti-oxidant-rich food such as pomegranate, berries, and green tea. These foods help by making your skin maintain a healthy barrier and destroy some of the free radicals that age your skin.

However, if you lack some vitamins essential to your health, you can always take them as supplements. To lead a healthy life and hence, age at a slower pace, try implementing superfoods such as avocados, almonds, lemon, rosemary, salmon, and ginger into your diet.

2. Do plenty of exercises

Among the list of all-natural ways to stay young is exercising. You should avoid sitting on the couch all day, using elevators all the time, and driving to every destination. Instead, try walking more, using the stairs instead of elevators, jogging, and doing some kind of exercise.

You can choose a sport you like such as cycling, jogging, or going to the gym, and make practicing it a habit. You can always spice it up and try a new one such as kickboxing, Zumba, or rock climbing class. Doing body and mind workouts such as yoga and pilates are also beneficial for your overall well-being.

Did you know that around 90% of women of all ages practice yoga in Australia regularly? That tells you something.

3. Try cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgery procedures don’t have to imply a necessarily bad thing. Experts claim that some amount of plastic surgery can be life-enhancing. To look young, we need to feel young and we can’t do that if some features of our appearance trouble us. We can easily change that by consulting specialists all around the world.

For example, if you are a resident of Australia and you are not satisfied with your wrinkly neck, you can book an appointment for a neck lift procedure in Sydney and Canberra. Many other procedures will make us feel good and confident about ourselves, and thus happier, glowing, and younger. These include thigh lifts, facelifts, rhinoplasty, and various anti-wrinkle treatments.

4. Moisturize your skin

An anti-aging secret for looking and feeling younger than ever is to moisturize your skin daily, ideally two times.  As we age, the inborn ability of our skin to retain moisture decreases so it becomes dry more easily. Moreover, when we shower, we remove natural oils from our skin by applying all kinds of cleansers.

That’s why it’s a good idea to apply a moisturizer right after taking a shower, as the skin when it’s wet absorbs it more easily. The fact is, you can never over-moisturize your skin. To avoid wrinkles and fine lines appearing on your face, neck, and body make sure to apply moisturizer twice a day when you wake up and before you go to bed.

5. Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliation is a process by which we remove dead cells from our skin. It’s important to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. Anything more than twice will irritate your skin, so avoid that. When we exfoliate, we prevent the dead cells on our skin from building up and hence, decrease the softness and glow of our skin.

The dead cells also prevent the moisturizer from penetrating your skin, as it should. Regular exfoliation will give you a silky-smooth complexion and it will keep those unwanted wrinkles and fine lines at bay.

6. Sleep more

Furthermore, some of the best anti-aging tips suggest regular sleeping and napping habits as crucial ones. There are some things to consider regarding the part of the day best for sleeping and the clothes you wear while sleeping. Experts claim that wearing too many clothes, that make you hot while sleeping prevents your body from cooling down and hence releasing the necessary anti-aging hormones.

So, have that in mind for the future. Also, invest in silk pillowcases. It may sound strange, but it makes a difference. These special pillowcases help your skin stay moist while catching your ZZZs. And the ability to retain moisture will greatly affect the reduction of wrinkles on your face. Your regular beauty sleep should take at least 7 to 9 hours every night.

7. Take a break

Every once in a while you should give yourself a break as stress can cause physical changes in your body that can accelerate the process of aging. A good way to take a break is to meditate. Other tips to take a break include making a pause of 10 to 20 minutes in a quiet place, relaxing your muscles, rolling your head, neck as well and shoulders, and breathing deeply.

8. Apply sunscreen

Today, when the ozone layer is damaged to a great extent it’s very important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. It’s important to apply sunscreen on your skin during spring and summer in all countries around the world, not just hot and sunny on continents such as Australia and Africa. We should apply it whenever we leave the house and not just when we go sunbathing.

9. Cut down on vice

Different vices such as alcohol, cigarettes, and coffee largely affect our aging. Alcohol infuses every cell and damages our genes and liver. However, drinking alcohol in moderation can be beneficial. Doctors recommend one glass of red wine for women and two for men daily.  Excessive consumption of alcohol increases free radicals in our bodies.

Cigarettes are also terribly harmful to us. Not only that they can cause lung cancer, but smoking also leads to incredibly fast aging. We end up looking older than we are. Nicotine leaves an impact visible on your skin directly. You end up with flaky skin, less resilient to external stresses leading to crow’s feet and saggy skin.

And we don’t want that. On the other hand, caffeine stimulates your adrenals (which hold onto our lifelong essence) by putting stress on them. As we age, we lose our essence and that’s why we need to keep our adrenals happy by reducing caffeine.

10. Have a positive outlook

In today’s day and age, it is not always easy to stay positive. However, it’s essential to try to find a positive side in everything because some studies have shown that optimistic and enthusiastic people tend to live longer and happier lives.

Aging is a perfectly natural process and we need to find a way to adjust it and age gracefully. We should keep in mind that for everything we do, we ought to do it in moderation. This is the key to a long, healthy, and happy life.
