Hi, I am a mom. I am a newbie League of Legends player, and I am addicted to Mod Skin LoL Pro.
You must be wondering why I am playing League of Legends or why I say I am addicted to Mod Skin LoL Pro.
Well, here’s my story.
How I got into LoL
My kids introduced me to League of Legends, also known as LoL. At first, I was hesitant to try, but my kids are persistent. They want to challenge my smarts.
On my end, I also wanted to understand what makes them play this game so much and what they are getting from it, so I tried.
I felt quite stupid in my first attempt, but my kids were (still) patient in teaching me.
Don’t get me wrong. I am still not an expert at all. The truth is, I always cause our team to lose, and it annoys my kids, but they let me play anyway. I’m their mom, so what can they do?
I started enjoying the characters, the monsters, the challenges, the need to strategize, the teamwork with my kids, and the many features that the game offers. However, the interest turned into an addiction, not to the whole game per se, but one program–Mod Skin LoL 2019.
This modification made playing LoL even more fun since I can change the skin of my champions (FYI, this is the character you play).
What is LoL anyway?
Perhaps you are already familiar with what LoL is. However, for those who are not aware of it, LoL is a multiplayer online battle game. Yes, it is perhaps that game that keeps your kid stuck on his or her phone.
Two groups of five members each would be playing the game, and their goal is to eliminate each other’s base. It sounds easy, but it is not.
Of course, you need to gain experience and strength to beat your enemy, who is also doing the same to protect their base. There are challenges along the way, and from all these, you either earn gold or experience. What the team gain in the process will help decide how they can defeat the opponent. Yes, the game needs quite a lot of thinking.
The team, therefore, needs to work together and strategize to win. These skills are what made me appreciate the game. When most moms think that games like LoL are a waste of time and teach kids nothing, I see it as a creative way to learn and gather skills.
Now, whichever team gets to destroy the opponent’s base naturally wins. That’s it! Game over!
So, what got me hooked to the game?
Mod Skin Lol Pro–my addiction
The Mod Skin allows a player to change the skin of his or her champion. The skin only refers to how your hero looks. The champion, again, is the character that you control.
The skins usually are in-game purchases. However, Mod Skin LoL Pro is a free program. With it, you can change your champion’s skin at no cost.
It’s the art that attracts me the most to this program. The unique model and splash arts are very pleasing to the eyes. Some skins can even change the champion’s voice-overs and sound effects.
It’s fun to change skins, so my kids even let me change their champions’ skins. It was like when I was a child changing my doll’s clothes. I can change the color, the style. There are just so many things that I can do that it makes the thinking part of the game less dull since I get to see the cute champions.
Will I be banned for using Mod Skin LoL Pro?
My kids worry that I might be banned from the game for using the Mod Skin LoL Pro. I, nevertheless, found out that it is no cause for alarm. Riot, the developer of LoL, does not mind their players using such modifications.
Because as I have said, it is fun, and Riot’s aim is for their players to have fun. Thus, so long as the mod is not damaging the business, and if it is encouraging more people (like me) to get into the game, then it is okay.
However, it comes with a warning: use the mod at your own risk because it could interfere with the game’s functions.
What people say about me playing LoL
I must admit that it seems weird that I play LoL with my kids. However, in this age of technology, when most kids get stuck to their gadgets, when can parents and kids bond?
Of course, people have been telling me to regulate my kids’ use of gadgets. However, admitting to playing the game does not mean I don’t restrict their use of devices. In truth, my involvement in the game made it even easier for me to control their use.
How? You may ask.
Well, after a game or two with me, they give up and either hit the books or hit the sack. Since I am a meh player, a game ends quite sooner than usual. Hence, they don’t spend so much time on the game.
Of course, there are times when I would genuinely play like a pro so that I get to see how my kids play with a team and how they strategize. These are skills that I believe are important to their development, so why look at LoL negatively when it can be useful as a tool to teach kids some skills?
“My mom plays LoL,” my kid said to his friends, and with wide eyes, they said, “cool!”
“My mom plays LoL,” said my other kid to my colleagues, and with wide eyes, they said, “why?!”
I play LoL, and I say, why not?
If this is what brings me closer to my kids, then why not?
What about you, will you try to play LoL too?
