Introduction

This is an upright vacuum from BISSELL designed expressly for homes with shedding pets. It combines a detaching “pod” for above-floor cleaning, pet-focused accessories, and a brush roll intended to prevent hair wrap. The package also emphasizes filtration with a sealed HEPA-style system to trap dander and fine dust.

Who this is for: pet owners, allergy-conscious households, and people who need easy transition between floors and furniture. Quick verdict: a practical, pet-focused upright that simplifies hair pickup and above-floor detailing, especially useful in multi-surface homes.

Every purchase helps: BISSELL supports the BISSELL Pet Foundation and its mission to save homeless pets, so buying this vacuum contributes to that effort.

What’s in the Box

  • Extension hose (for use with the detached pod) — specified
  • TurboBrush Pivot tool (specialized pet tool) — specified

If you need an exact parts list for replacement or accessory ordering, the official product listing or BISSELL support will have the definitive inventory.

Design & Build

The vacuum follows a conventional upright silhouette but adds a removable pod that detaches from the main unit for portable cleaning. Build materials are typical for household vacuums — molded plastics for the body and pod, with a brush roll containing grooves and a built-in comb mechanism. Exact weight and overall dimensions are not listed in the provided information, so if portability or storage footprint is a critical factor for you, check the seller listing or product manual before buying.

Ergonomics: the lift-off pod is intended to make above-floor cleaning less awkward than carrying an entire upright. The inclusion of an extension hose and specialized tools means you can reach stairs, upholstery, and vehicle interiors without lugging the full unit. The LED on the 2-in-1 tool improves visibility in dark crevices. Handle design and swivel/steering characteristics aren’t specified here, so test-drive in-store if maneuverability is a deciding factor.

Key Features

FurGuard self-cleaning brush roll

Benefit: Designed to prevent hair from wrapping around the brush, the brush roll routes hair into grooves while a continuous cleaning comb breaks hair apart as you vacuum. In real life, that means fewer stops to cut hair off the brush roll and less maintenance after cleaning long-haired pet areas like carpets or rugs.

Where it helps: High-traffic pet areas such as living-room rugs, runners, and bedrooms where hair buildup is most common. If you have long-haired cats or dogs, the reduced hair-wrapping lowers the need to manually clean the brush roll after every session.

Sealed HEPA allergen system

Benefit: The sealed HEPA-style system captures and retains dust, pet dander, and small allergen particles so they are less likely to escape back into the air. For allergy-sensitive households, this helps keep the breathing air cleaner during and after vacuuming.

Where it helps: Homes with people who have mild to moderate allergies, or where pet dander exacerbates symptoms. Note: the product description indicates a sealed HEPA allergen system; for specific HEPA certification level or filter replacement intervals, consult the manufacturer or product documentation.

Lift-Off detachable pod

Benefit: The detachable pod converts the upright into a compact canister-style cleaner for easy above-floor work. Removing the pod reduces the weight you carry while cleaning stairs, furniture, and hard-to-reach corners.

Where it helps: Stairs, upholstery, drapes, car interiors, and overhead fixtures. The extension hose and included tools attach to the pod so you can tackle detailing without hauling the full upright.

Specialized pet tools (TurboBrush Pivot and LED 2-in-1)

Benefit: The TurboBrush Pivot is a turbo-powered mini brush tailored for lifting hair and ground-in debris from upholstery. The LED-lit 2-in-1 dusting brush and crevice tool gives you visibility and versatility for narrow, dark spaces.

Where it helps: Pet beds, sofas, car seats, and narrow creases where hair and particulate collect. The pivoting turbo tool is particularly useful for curved surfaces and cushions where a straight nozzle struggles.

Continuous hair-cleaning comb (integrated)

Benefit: Built into the brush roll system, the comb continuously separates strands of hair from the bristles as you vacuum, which reduces manual hair removal.

Where it helps: Any area prone to hair accumulation, cutting down interruptions and post-cleaning maintenance.

Performance & Use

Setup and first use

  • Unbox and assemble according to the included guide. Attach the handle (if separate), secure the pod to the upright body, and install the tools in their onboard holders if provided.
  • Check that the brush roll can spin freely before powering on. Some vacuums ship with a protective strip or packing material that needs removal.

Daily and routine cleaning

  • For everyday floors, run the upright head as you would a standard vacuum. The FurGuard brush roll is designed to manage pet hair build-up during typical cleaning sessions.
  • Use the TurboBrush Pivot and the 2-in-1 LED tool for targeted areas like couches, stairs, and vehicle interiors. The LED light helps find embedded hair and crumbs in shadowed seams.

Maintenance tips

  • Empty the dustbin regularly to maintain consistent suction. The listing does not specify bin capacity; empty more frequently if you live with multiple pets.
  • Replace or clean filters per the manufacturer’s instructions. The sealed HEPA system likely uses a primary filter and a HEPA or HEPA-style element; check BISSELL’s filter part numbers for compatible replacements.
  • Periodically inspect the brush roll and the FurGuard comb to make sure no foreign objects are lodged. While the self-cleaning design reduces hair wrap, strings and large debris can still accumulate.
  • Keep the extension hose and tool connections free of blockages. A blocked hose reduces airflow and cleaning efficiency.

Practical real-world observations

  • The detachable pod makes bit-by-bit cleaning less cumbersome than carrying a full upright up stairs.
  • The TurboBrush Pivot shines on upholstery and pet bedding, capturing hair that standard nozzles often miss.
  • LED lighting on tools is a small but practical convenience for dim areas. It helps you spot pet hair in creases where it tends to hide.
  • If you have high-pile carpets or very dense mats of fur, expect to occasionally clear thicker clumps that may still tangle despite the FurGuard system.

Safety and storage

  • Unplug before performing any maintenance.
  • Store tools and the hose in their onboard holders if included; otherwise store in a clean, dry place to protect seals and electronics.

Pros vs Cons

Pros Cons
Purpose-built pet features (FurGuard brush roll, TurboBrush Pivot and LED 2-in-1 tool) reduce hair cleanup time. Exact weight and dimensions are not specified here, so portability and storage footprint are unclear until checked.
Sealed HEPA allergen system helps trap dander and fine dust, beneficial for allergy-prone homes. Filter replacement schedule and part numbers are not listed; you may need to verify long-term maintenance costs.
Lift-off detachable pod makes above-floor cleaning and stair work more manageable than a standard upright. For very heavy hair loads or dense mats, you may still need occasional manual hair removal from the brush roll.
Includes specialized tools (TurboBrush Pivot, LED-lit dusting brush/crevice), improving versatility. The bin capacity is not listed; households with multiple pets may need more frequent emptying.
Reduces time spent cutting hair off the brush roll thanks to an integrated cleaning comb. Maneuverability specifics (swivel angle, handle height) are not detailed and may affect comfort for some users.

Who Should Buy

  • Pet owners with medium to long-haired dogs or cats who regularly contend with fur on carpets and upholstery.
  • Households where allergy management is a concern and an enclosed filtration system is valued.
  • People who want a single machine that serves as an upright for floors and a portable pod for furniture, stairs, and car interiors.

Who shouldn’t buy

  • Buyers who require full technical specifications (weight, exact dimensions, and bin capacity) before purchasing; these are not listed here and should be confirmed.
  • Those with extremely high hair output (multiple large dogs shedding heavily daily) who may prefer commercial or heavy-duty pet vacuums with larger dustbins and more industrial brush systems.
  • Shoppers needing detailed warranty duration or filter part numbers in the product description; you should consult the listing or BISSELL support for those specifics.

Closing — Quick Buying Advice

If you want a vacuum built around pet cleanup—especially for hair and dander—this BISSELL pet vacuum offers thoughtful features: a brush roll designed to resist hair wrap, a sealed filtration system, and tools for above-floor detailing. It isn’t ideal if you need full technical specs or operate in a commercial setting with extremely heavy shedding; otherwise it’s a sensible, pet-focused choice. For final peace of mind, confirm weight, bin capacity, and filter part numbers on the product page or with BISSELL before buying.

I have owned a Dyson for more than 15 years. So after my Dyson stopped, picking up the smallest of things, I knew it was time for a new vacuum. I was never really satisfied with my Dyson so I went to my friends
to find what they had, they all had a Bissell vacuum. so I went to Amazon found a Bissell that I absolutely love when it arrived. I ran my Dyson over my carpet then I ran my Bissell. I was shocked at how much more the Bissell picked up. I wish I had known about this vacuum years ago the LED lighting is fantastic it shows everything on my floor so I know that the vacuum has picked it up also on the wand that goes down deep into your cushions, also has an LED lighting wow this was just amazing to me. The suction is very good. It’s easy to assemble and so very easy to empty the band. I recommend this Bisso to everyone and anyone who’s thinking of buying a vacuum. I’m in my 70s and I can tell you this is the vacuum I’ve ever owned. Also I have a long hair cat and it does a wonderful job picking up her hair.

I currently have a dyson v10 animal that I got for my grandma and myself with our 2 cats. During long cleaning sessions the vaccume would run out of battery and my grandma’s dyson DC 14 is too old in age. I went with a shark Navigator didnt work with the cat hair. Went with another shark the shark lift away with power fins I liked the construction but didnt agitate our large area rug enough to dig into the pet hair. Then got a dyson animal ball 3 too heavy and too much suction for my grandma to push when she needed to vaccume. Ultimately set on this the bissell I love the stronger motor but what I love is the solid construction for the price ease of use and pet tools. I love the ability for me to provide maintenance on it without having to take it to a dedicated shop. Carpet agitation and ability to pick up cat hair is amazing. The suction on our hardwood floors could be better but this vacuum on rugs is absolutely amazing. The power in my opinion is kore then enough. I would recommend this product howver evyone has there personal preference.

I really like this vacuum. It picks up and holds a lot. It is light weight and easy to use. Easy to empty the canister. It also does get most of the fur off the furniture. Good suction, keeps picking up even after using for over 10 minutes. Worth the price, but I did wait for it to be on sale, lol. The retractable cord is the best too! That was a deciding factor when I bought it. I very much dislike having to wind a long cord after vacuuming, and with this vacuum I just hold the button and the cord is tucked in. Strong suction, it catches all the dust bunnies. With an easy release handle/wand to get any dust or spider webs up high. I’m happy with this purchase!

This definitely picks up pet hair and does a fantastic job. I love it but… You need to clean it often. Not just the filter parts. The brush stopped today because there was a clump of hair and dust clogging it. Kudos for stopping and not catching fire or burning out.

I have Great Danes so not a ton of hair that’s long and difficult for a vacuum. I’ve washed the canister parts and filters every other full vacuum. Say 3-4 times emptying a session, it’s a big place. (The canister is small so needs to be emptied often.)

So if you’re aware it needs cleaning and care, making sure everything is clear, it’s fantastic at vacuuming. Great suction and really pulls the debris out of the carpet. Probably suitable for a smaller bit of carpet instead of the 900 sq ft and two huge dogs that I’m dealing with. I’d love one with a bigger canister and tolerance. I’ve had it for 8 months.

Yes it is great at kicking up dog hair, but very difficult to clean out the canister unless you empty it after every room. And the prices is awkward and dusty. Note…Golden retrievers shed their weight in fur every year!

Out of the box it was easy to put together, the construction seems of good quality, and it’s much quieter than the vacuum its replacing.

    After one use:

Out of the box: It did a great job in pulling tons of cat hair (I have 3) out of the carpets, and the accessory upholstery brush worked pretty well on some fabric chairs and my couch. In my small dining room alone it pulled two full tanks of dust and hair out of the carpet with none clogging the brush roller.

The accessory hose is a little bit short, and kind of awkward to maneuver (with the upholstrey tool you have this 2.5 foot long solid wand on three feet of hose connected to the bottom of the vacuum) but that could also be helpful in reaching higher places and vacuuming out corners and crevices.

The accessories seem pretty good. The light on the crevice tool is a little bit cheesy (single LED powered by watch batteries) but still kind of nice to have.

The auto cord winder is nice, but I feel like to get the auto winder, I gave up about 10ft of cord length, which would have been nice to have too.

Seems a bit mediocre on the hardwood floors, but I haven’t had a chance yet to give it a full fair test.

So far I’m very happy with this vacuum, it does exactly what I bought it for (removing copious amounts of dust and cat hair from carpet) and does it well. The accessories and the cord winder seem good right now and for the price I’m happy with the purchase.

As time goes on I’ll update the review, especially if anything breaks or goes wrong. The vacuum I replaced was a hoover pet pro, and it did a fantastic job for almost 10 years before getting old and tired. Lets see if this one does as well.

    Shortcomings/complaints:
The hose is waaay too short/taught, and the center of balance seems off- like it’s top heavy somehow. Almost every time I try to use the hose, even for stuff within arm’s reach of the vacuum, the slightest tension on the hose pulls the whole machine over. The vacuum being detachable from the head is advertised as a feature when in reality it’s pretty much a requirement any time you want to use the hose. I find this awful on my back, and it could have been much better had they given the hose a just a little more length.

Maintenance is alright, except for the brush rollers- Any time something gets caught in the rollers you have to take the vacuum head apart with a screw driver and remove something like 5 or 6 small screws- having to do this multiple times in the same cleaning session is a huge time sink. Small random stuff (like tiny candy wrappers) that shouldn’t be an issue to vacuum end up jamming the roller, adding to the frustration.

I sucked up a bobby pin on accident and it ended up cracking the plastic housing that a screw on the head mounts into, and now it makes a horrible grinding and rattling sound any time the brush is turned on. I’ve sucked up hundreds of bobby pins with a dozen different vacuums, and all those survived just fine, but the first one this one tasted took it out.

    Good stuff:
The tank is easy to empty, and the filters are easy to clean and replace, which is a plus.
The lights on the vacuum head help you see all the little bits that you might not see otherwise, which is a feature I greatly appreciate.

    Conclusion:
It’s an okay vacuum, but has some glaring issues that will have me looking elsewhere when the time comes to replace it- which I feel is going to be much sooner than I would have hoped for how much this machine costs (not satisfied with the value for money).

    EDIT

Hose randomly tore open at the base, making the whole unit completely useless after less than one year.

Worst investment in a vacuum I’ve ever made.

Received on time. Excited to use… over several uses noticed. It’s a short cord.. so constantly unplugging and plugging back in. No long solid wand, just the flex hose that you can put different ends on. Doesn’t help much when reaching to clean up something as flexible hose isn’t that cooperative. Finally front on beater bar is high. Fits under standard kitchen cabinets but if decorative trim, no, have to manipulate the flexible hose. It does pick up well on carpet and hard floors. Finally low cord pullout so if not holding the cord up out of way, it continually gets in way. My findings after several uses. Purchased to replace my aging Dyson, only improvement from it is how well picks up. My Dyson has to be at least 12 or more yrs old now, losing power and hose is falling apart, so why replaced, and didn’t want to to pay what asking for Dyson.
