Bought this inverter for my RV. When I need to run the AC or microwave this unit has no problem. Easy to crank. Usually one or two pulls. Runs very quiet when just charging batteries and lights. It will get louder when under a big load but nothing like the old generators
I also use it in parallel with a Champion 2500 to run both AC’s when needed. Both AC’c have soft starts.
CA –
Unit does what its supposed to. Starts easy provides all the power we need for our RV.
Adam –
Very well made and a lot of thought was put into sound attenuation and ease of maintenance and servicing. Starts easy and fast and operates well.

Excellent 4000w inverter generator! Powers a 13k rv air-conditioner no problem!.. Runs excellent so far.. I only have 27 hours on it so far.. Time will tell how it holds up.. So far I’m very happy with it!

Update:
I now have 55 hours on this generator and I am beyond impressed.
I fabricated a generator mount for the front of my trailer, (See Picture), so I can run the generator while we are going down the road. (Keeps the inside of the trailer nice and cool)- and, yes, I have straps to hold it down when traveling (not shown in photo)
I took it on a 3 day dry camping family vacation when the weather was very hot in August. Our Winnebago Voyage travel trailer has 2) 15,000 BTU Dometic rooftop AC’s and we had to have one of them on at all times.
The Champion had no problem running one Air Conditioner at a time along with lights, and our large 12-volt RV fridge. It could not run the AC and the microwave oven at the same time.
I really like the overload feature: if the generator goes into overload, it keeps running and a red light comes on the control panel, all you have to do to reset it is press the red button and it will start generating again (easy!)
I have no concerns about running it all night under load until it runs out of gas, it does not damage the generator and it starts right back up after refilling.
I disabled the CO detector (Thanks YouTube!!!!) it was easy and the generator has no issues with a hyperactive CO detector.
On our trip running 24/7, It went through about 5 gallons every 24 hours, (the AC’s ran all day and most of the night)
It didn’t burn any oil, started easily and was very quiet.
I am more impressed with the quality of this generator every time I use it.
So far no negatives, this is a quality generator especially for the price.
Here is my original review:
I have run it through its paces and it came out with flying colors!
What I love about this generator:
1. It came really well packaged – no damage
2. It came with oil and a funnel
3. The door to check/add the oil has quarter-turn fasteners (no tools required)
4. Starts easy…I mean really easy !
5. It is very quiet
6. Very light weight (47 pounds)
7. Very powerful – 4000 watts
What I don’t like:
1. So far..nothing….
I did a 7 hour break-in and ran my 27 ft travel trailer with it. It started the 15,000 BTU Air conditioner with no problems. I ran the AC for 7 hours on one tank of fuel (the blower ran all 7 hours..the AC compressor ran for two hours)
After the break-in period, the oil was pretty dark (not black, just grey) I changed the oil and put in Full Synthetic 10-30 oil. The oil change is easy if you buy one of those oil change suction devices.
The controls are easy to understand, it seems like a very quality generator. I expect it to last many, many years.

My second bite at the apple with a champion generator. Wasn’t that happy with the first one that is duel fuel and 4500/4000 watts but I have used my new portable champion generator 2x now and I love the ease of the pull start and how quiet it is. This is my new go to. I ran it for 4hrs with not a moderate load and I only went through maybe half a tank. Do with it would tell me my load use
Jason –
Lasts a long time and providdd good clean power. I take it with me to power things remotely and it’s been great for a wide variety of use cases great value and easy to use.
Adam –
Fired up on the second pull. Tested with meter and all outlets worked. Did 5 hour break in. Powered my rig just fine. Was able to run 2 air conditioners with no problem. One has soft start the other does not. With some power management it also ran my electric fireplace and electric water heater. Did another 5 hours and changed the oil again. More power, less weight, and smaller size than my old 3200 that weighed in at 80lbs.
If there were two things that would improve this: make it a little quieter under load and put counter on it so you know how many hours it has run.

Im sitting here actually laughing writing this review. I’ve been wrenching on cars for 28 years, and was a small engine mechanic before that. I remember when these guys came out, and I’m a brand name b*****d. As we all know, quality in a product nowadays is NOT what it was a decade or more ago especially from familiar names. This thing really is an engineering marvel. I know my stuff, do my research repetitively, and I’m humored that this company crammed a 149cc engine in this with a considerable punch, while making an a$$ out of the biggest brands in portable power. The unit I looked at was 3300 starting watts, no fuel shut off, no gauge for the fuel, 10 pounds heavier, only 2500 watts running and bigger. And significantly more expensive. 799 that is, plus not having a good rap for customer service. This one boasts considerably more power, a fuel gauge, lighter, longer run time, better build quality and I can keep going. It’s exciting to see. Do your research, this company really has something when it comes to build quality, ease of use, maintenance, and very clear instructions along with 24 hour customer support. Good luck finding anyone that offers that nowadays. In a world that quality and service is not what it used to be, I suggest you look very closely at this company, you won’t regret it.
Adam –
I’m genuinely laughing as I write this review. With 28 years of car experience and a background in small engine mechanics, I’ve seen this company’s evolution. As a brand loyalist, I recognize that quality has declined across the industry over the past decade.
This generator is truly an engineering marvel. After thorough research, I’m impressed that they packed a 149cc engine with impressive power into this unit, outperforming major brands in portable power. The competing model I considered offered only 3300 starting watts, lacked a fuel shutoff and gauge, was 10 pounds heavier, delivered just 2500 running watts despite being larger, and cost significantly more at $799, with poor customer service reputation.
This generator delivers more power, includes a fuel gauge, weighs less, runs longer, offers superior build quality, and more. It’s refreshing to see. Their build quality, user-friendliness, maintenance simplicity, clear instructions, and 24-hour customer support are exceptional in today’s market where quality and service have declined. I strongly recommend considering this company—you won’t be disappointed.

Operates silently, simple to operate, and can be easily moved by a single person.

I’ve previously owned two RV generators – a Honda and an AllPower – both of which only lasted for two seasons. This is my first time trying Champion, and I’m impressed so far. The generator arrived well-secured in its shipping box. I particularly appreciated the included half liter of oil and funnel (especially since my funnels always end up in my grandchildren’s sandbox). Setup was hassle-free – just added the provided oil and some gas, and it started on the first pull. So far, it’s running excellently.
Nate –
The generator has been performing well so far. It starts easily on the first pull, runs smoothly with consistent power and stable RPMs. I tested it during an 8-hour planned power outage and it handled multiple devices simultaneously, though a small ceramic heater used nearly all available power. I wish I had purchased the 6500W model instead.
I bought this primarily for emergencies, mainly to keep food in my refrigerator and freezer from spoiling. During the 8-hour test, it consumed about 2.5 hours worth of gas, which matches what was advertised.
Overall, it ran smoothly throughout and proved to be a high-quality compact generator. Definitely worth the under $600 price tag. I’d rate it 10/10 with my only regret being that I didn’t get the higher wattage model.
Dan Rodriguez –
I have three Champion generators: a 3500W 110V, a 5500W 220V, and my newest addition, the 4000W inverter portable for my RV that runs on 110V. We recently went off-grid camping, and the 4000W inverter performed well, successfully powering our air conditioner without any issues.
Sandra Watson –
I’m absolutely thrilled with this purchase! During power outages, we were able to run our deep freezer, refrigerator, four lights, TVs, modem, microwave, and various other appliances simultaneously. It truly makes dealing with power disruptions so much more manageable. The unit is also very user-friendly – simple to fuel up and get running!
Bergeron Patrick –
I haven’t been able to use it to its full capacity because now that I have it, the power hasn’t gone out for as long… ????
Alby –
This generator is impressively quiet and compact, with a lightweight design that makes it easy to transport. Starting it up is effortless. The construction quality suggests it’s built for longevity. I highly recommend it – I’ve had zero issues with mine. As long as you properly prepare it for storage, it starts reliably every time. I always run 4-cycle TruFuel through it before putting it away.
Fortunato Rosauro –
I use it for when the power goes out in my house and it’s enough for my whole house (of course I only turn on what I need and not everything at the same time), but it does power the electric gate, refrigerator, and pressurizing pump, as well as the TVs and lights.
Eleazar lozoya moran –
I am extremely disappointed with this equipment. After just 30 hours of use, it started smoking like an old jalopy. It claims to have a 3-year warranty, but I cannot get in contact with anyone – it only says there’s no one available to assist me in Spanish. I need information about support in Mexico.
MARY N –
Our previous Honda generator, which cost us $2000, couldn’t handle our trailer’s new air conditioning system. We bought this generator instead and couldn’t be happier. While it might be slightly louder than the Honda, the difference isn’t significant enough to justify the higher price. It effectively powers our AC unit and is portable enough that we don’t need a cart to move it around.
springfield –
Very compact and ultra quiet, and it provides 3000w continuously. I love it!
