We borrowed our friends’ Roomba when we first started thinking of buying a robot vac. It was super loud and our cats freaked out. I chose this one based on the reviews of how quiet it is. First time using – our cats were curious and alert, but they just observed from the couch (as opposed to full-on hiding in the closet when we ran the Roomba). Now, two weeks later, they just sniff it and walk around it as it goes about its vacuuming business. Don’t get me wrong, you will definitely hear that it’s running, but it’s a lot quieter and more pleasant than when we borrowed the Roomba.
We have a 600 sq ft apartment, and it gets the whole place clean within its battery life. Our floors are all laminate. It picks up all the cat hair. It can easily get in and out of the smaller areas (galley kitchen, bathroom, other side of the bed that’s further away from the bedroom door). Long hair is not an issue in this household, but we find that for clumps of cat hair, we do need to clean them off the brush bristles as they get stuck there, rather than getting sucked up into the dust chamber. This is not a big deal, just a couple minutes of picking fur clumps off after 5+ runs. We mostly run this when we’re home, since we have to pick up all cat toys and food bowls before running it, anyway.
Where it gets stuck:
– Slightly different coloured floor due to shadows – it must have sensed a drop-off or obstacle, so it backed off. We have dark laminate flooring. On sunny days, or at night with even artificial light, it’s OK. On a cloudy day with weak sun coming in from the window, it misjudged the shadows on the floor.
– The legs of a rolling office chair.
– Desk legs. We have an IKEA Micke desk with the U-shaped metal legs. It can sometimes get one side over the leg, but can’t get off it. We placed a laundry hamper by the desk to prevent it from getting stuck there.
Very happy with this purchase! Hopefully it will perform just as well once the heavy fur shedding season is upon us.

This is the second one we’ve bought. The first lasted five years with daily use — impressive for the price. The trick is regular maintenance: clean the filters and keep a few spare parts on hand, and it will perform reliably. I run it every day in my 900 sq. ft. home and my floors always look great afterward. It doesn’t have mapping or Bluetooth, so its path can seem random and it sometimes circles the same spot, but if you let it finish, it covers the whole house and returns to the dock. Important tip: keep floors clear and lift cords, because it will get tangled in small items. I like this model because it’s simple, affordable, and just vacuums (I’d rather mop myself). For the price, five years of daily use is an amazing value. Definitely recommend!

Update, May 8, 2024: I sent an email to the manufacturer explaining the battery situation and they sent me a new battery under warranty.
Very poor manual because of very small illustrations which are not the same as on the robot, plus does not explain how to delete a setting. A fairly good robot though, cleans well but tends to remain in larger rooms, it starts in the living room of 1,500 sq.’ apartment, manages to find the bedroom, but once it exits the bedroom it does not go back to finish the bedroom and washroom. My fix for this is to put it in the bedroom and close the door and let it run until it finishes the bedroom, then take it to the living room. It does not clean near the charging station. Very quiet, bumps very gently. When it is working beside you, you can still hold a conversation.
It is very easy to clean the waste bin, roller, wheels and filter. I clean it and wipe off the machine each time I use it, which is twice a month. I find this vacuum very easy to use and clean. It usually runs for about 1.5 hours, then recharges.
For $200.00 Canadian it is an okay value. It does not have the headaches and problems associated with programming using cell phones. I understand why manufacturers went that route, but it isn’t good.
TIPS: do one room at a time. The reason is that the robot learns the room and wastes less time learning multiple rooms. Give it plenty of time to fully recharge between uses. CLEAN IT, CLEAN IT, CLEAN IT after each use – remember to do the wheels, they pop out so easily.

We have owned this robot vacuum from February 2025-Sept 2025.
I think it is an excellent budget robot vacuum. My kods enjoyed bossing it around with the remote, I managed to set a scheduled vacuuming sometime in the middle of the night, and overall it does a pretty decent job. It gets up a LOT of stuff. I have 4 kids, we homeschool, and we believe in spending lots of time outside (which translates to lots of dirt getting tracked in). Let’s be honest: no robot vacuum is going to solve my issues. *However*, every single time I run this guy (we’ve named him Felix), he gets up all sorts of stuff. I’m talking perler beads, rubber bands, pony beads, lego pieces, and SO much dust and dirt. He does get caught up on stuff. I put our cat’s food and water on a 1/2″ tall wooden tray in hopes that Felox would quit trying to get a snack and drink, but he was too rugged and would “jump the curb” to get him a piece. Strings, ribbons, pipe cleaners, and socks goon him up. He seems to find the weird places where the furniture is just *slightly* closer to the floor than anywhere else and wedges himself in there and gets stuck, crying out for help. I put things in front of the TV stand now to try and prevent sticking.

I have a shark Robotvac that doesn’t have any mapping but cleans very well and sometimes does not make it back to the charging station which is in a hallway.
The eufy does everything advertised.
I mapped my rooms that I wanted and then
divided some because of the open floor and
created some no go zones which it recognizes and avoids those areas. I works very well.
I created 2 schedules for 3 rooms each because it does take it’s time to run it’s cleaning pattern or patterns if you select 2 passes.
I gave it set for 45 minutes to empty the bin for which it will resume cleaning and that works flawlessly. After it finishes all the roo.s in the schedule it has no problem finding it’s way home and doing a fi al bin emptying before charging.
I highly recommend this product as I paid only $199 for it.

Edited (10/22/19) and placed on top so others can see what has occurred since making the statements below~ Shortly after returning the robovac that was not working as intended the company made contact with me (they are very serious on having happy clients). They offered me a new robovac of the same model which I told them I had already returned and received a refund for. They stated they understood this yet would still like to send my a new one which I accepted after a few exchanged emails. This company went above and beyond much the same way I run my business. I learned a long time ago if your clients are not happy you can put your company at risk of failure. Now I don’t know if they just sent my out a unit with a new battery or if there have been upgrades to said unit yet I will say this new one works like a charm. The only two issues I have every had since running this for about 3 weeks is it get stuck in two areas of my home however that is not of any fault or flaw to said unit. The areas are just that kind of area; one of the areas I simple moved the two throw rugs closer together and the unit stopped getting caught in the toe kick of the cabinet, the other is under a hide-a-bed when it is in use by getting caught on the loop leg whereas the unit get in a kind of see-saw predicament (this area I will be placing tape around the leg as a bumper so it will no longer be able to breach the area. Even with these two things being of no error to their manufacturing they had a suggestion that has worked for other (I was not interested in said suggestion because it seemed a bit ackward to me) and also sent my out a new brush for all the communication I have offered (they stated it helps them to make a better unit when they know what to look for) All in all I am very please with the unit; it runs strong and does what it is intended for. Great company to work with.
(original comments) As an overall cleaning unit it did a fine job for it’s price. It got the bulk of the dust and what nots off the carpet and floors of our home + family room in one 90 minute pass on it maiden voyage. It amazed me how much debris where on the floors for the first few mission of capture and destroy and such become less as time went on. I had it set so that it would go on after we left for work and the house always looked vacuum when we returned. I will forewarn anyone who purchased any of these type units that you must clean the brushes daily for about the first week, after that it was about about every few days for me yet I have long hair and a cat. Also the catch bin must be emptied daily (at least that was true for me) as well as a good cleaning of the filter in the catch bin to achieve maximum cleaning power. Because I already knew this it was not an issue for me. I was off work and heard the unit start and run for about 15 or so minuted then I no longer heard it so I got up to see if it got caught (which it had done on two occasions) or just at the back of the house. Nope, it had returned to it’s base to recharge which under normal use should not of happened for 90 or so minuted. I thought perhaps my cat may of pushed it off it’s charger so I charged up to a full charge and set it free again. Once again it ran for a short time then returned to it’s base. I know from owning many battery operated tools that this is a sure sign of a worn out battery. Instead of opening the battery compartment to check the date on the battery (some battery tools are in the warehouse for long periods of time which means you get a worn out battery to start with) I decided for a new tool that this is unacceptable and returned said item. I will be looking at other brands to see if this is an issue before purchasing another.
If it was not for the battery issue and the fact that the remote only worked when I was in the same room as the unit I would of been fully satisfied with the product and kept it even though the remote was limited. Again, this may of been a battery issue as the box came with batteries for the remote as well. Nice cleaning unit providing it stays charged.

He was named Bender and he wandered around like a drunk toddler, got stuck on chair bases constantly (dirty jokes apply), and if the smallest thing was wrong, he simply didn’t activate for the daily vacuuming routine. There was a lot of fussing with the app and hostage level negotiating to no avail. I gave up.
I decided he didn’t last long enough to justify the cost so started researching more budget friendly options. After reading a ton of reviews, I chose the Eufy. I got the base model and figured if I hated it, at least it wasn’t $700 down the drain. I love this thing. We named it M3gan and she gets things done. If, for whatever reason, she is not in a position to begin her daily run, she beeps at me so I can fix it. Then she does the run. She has picked up an absolute ton of dog hair and dirt. I have to stay on top of it, because there is a finite amount of space in her bucket and she does not come with a bag to empty into. That is okay. I can randomly pick her up when I walk by, dump her, put her back on the floor, tell her to go again, and she does. There is no app. Just a remote control and auto timer that you set with it. She’s super quiet when she’s not alerting me something is wrong. It’s fantastic. I can go back to vacuuming manually once a week or so.
I have two messy kids and two indoor/outdoor dogs that Never. Stop. Shedding. She is handling it like a champ. Yes, I need to maintain the roller (because there is an unholy amount of hair in my house). That is fine. It pops out super easy, I detangle it, pop it back in, and she’s good to go. She has saved me so much time and kept the floor so much cleaner than I’ve been able to.
I am so glad I decided to pick the Eufy. Sure, it doesn’t have a fancy app, but you know what that means? No more screwing around trying to troubleshoot an app. That alone will save me hours per month. Yes, she bumps into things, but she gets the job done. In my 1,500 sq. ft. apartment it starts in the living room, can find the bedroom, but won’t go back to finish the bedroom and washroom after leaving. My workaround is to place it in the bedroom, close the door, let it finish, then move it to the living room. It also won’t clean right next to the charging station.
It’s very quiet and only bumps gently, so you can comfortably hold a conversation while it runs. The waste bin, roller, wheels and filter are all easy to clean. I wipe it down after each use (I run it twice a month). Battery life is about 1.5 hours before it recharges.
For CAD $200 it’s an okay value. I also appreciate that it doesn’t require phone-based programming — no app headaches. Tips: run one room at a time so the robot learns the space, allow plenty of time for full recharge between uses, and CLEAN IT after each run — especially the wheels, which pop out easily.
