Buying Guide: Jackery Explorer 300 Plus Portable Power Station

Introduction

The Jackery Explorer 300 Plus is a versatile portable power station designed for outdoor enthusiasts, travelers, and emergency preparedness. With its 288Wh LiFePO4 battery and 300W output capability, it offers reliable power on the go. This guide will help you understand its key features and determine if it’s the right choice for your needs.

Understanding Power Capacity

The Explorer 300 Plus features a 288Wh capacity with a 300W continuous output (300W is the maximum power it can supply at once). This means it can power:

  • Small appliances like mini-fridges for 2-3 hours
  • Smartphones approximately 25-30 times
  • Laptops for 4-6 complete charges
  • CPAP machines for about 4-5 hours

When determining if this capacity meets your needs, list all devices you plan to power and their wattage requirements to ensure compatibility.

Battery Technology and Lifespan

The Explorer 300 Plus uses LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery technology, which offers several advantages:

  • Longer lifespan – up to 10 years with regular use
  • Better temperature tolerance (operates efficiently even at 45°C)

These certifications and protections ensure safe operation in various environments.

Value Assessment

When evaluating the value of the Explorer 300 Plus, consider:

  • Initial investment vs. long 10-year lifespan
  • Included accessories (AC charge cable, manual)
  • Additional purchases needed (solar panels, adapters)
  • Warranty and customer support from Jackery

Compare these factors against your budget and power needs to determine if it’s the right investment.

Conclusion

The Jackery Explorer 300 Plus offers a balanced combination of portability, capacity, and durability. I’m a scout leader and do a fair amount of camping. I recently got a CPAP and needed something that would power it. I was skeptical of this little thing when I got it but really wanted something reasonably portable and sturdy that I can toss in the back of my truck or troop trailer when packing, would last at least 2 nights camping, and would be easy enough to carry for a few miles to a camp staff building where I could charge it if needed. I’m happy to say after my first weekend trip with it I believe it will be all of those things for me.

My first night I got it I tested it out at home. Charged the unit up and plugged my CPAP into the AC inverter with my machine running as I would normally use it at home… The battery only lasted about 5 hours any my wife complained about a slight fan noise (from the inverter) before giving out. I plugged the Jakery in to charge and power pass though worked great until the unit was charged then it stopped and switched back over to battery mode and the battery ran down again.

Night two I plugged in a DC adaptor I purchased for my CPAP and found I could almost make it though a night. The Jackery lasted about 7hrs before the battery was dead. Proving the DC converter was more efficient.

My 3rd night I ran the machine with the DC power converter turning off the humidifier, heated tube, and (something else). This time the battery was only at 87% after 7.5hrs of sleep. Note this was my first time turning all the comfort features off on the CPAP and it really was not that big of a deal. Yes nice to have but not musts for me.

Having proven itself I took it camping with us this weekend and it worked great. I used my CPAP both nights, charged my phone and watch off it while still having about 60% power left. I am pretty sure it will make it the full week through summer camp without charging and if it does need charged it seems I can charge to 100% in about 2hrs on AC if needed. Yes I could buy the solar panels but it seems like one more thing to hope does not get broken and most of the time our camp sites are in the woods with a fair amount of shade. I’m wondering how the battery will hold up during winter camping and I’m sure as we start training and doing more backpacking trips I’l need something smaller and lighter but for now this fits my requirements. Looking forward to more well rested nights in the woods and while at anchor on our boat.

Great quality Jackery! I’ll eventually get a 2000 Plus but this is a great power source in the meantime. To charge from a Jackery solar panel it needs a DC8020 to USB-C adapter which is not included. Otherwise it’s a perfect little power source!

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
Bought this based on power capacity, weight, and cost.

This is light enough and small enough I can carry this almost daily. I use it to recharge my phone, tablet, and other USB devices. I can charge this and then bring it home to charge other power stations as long as they are set to slow charge. No complaints.

    Portable:
Weighs about as much as those rigid plastic lunch boxes. Similar size to. Weighs i.2lbs.
    Power:
288wh. Power goes down quick if I plug in a high drain device like my gaming laptop. Can charge several USB devices and it’s not down to 50% overnight.

**Be careful as there are 2 versions of this powerstation. One has 2x100W USB-C and the other has 1-USB-C in/our and a 15W USB-C. There are 2 different sets of photos used in this amazon advertisement. The Jackery Website is the same. YouTuber reviews are for the 2x100W versions that aren’t available anymore. You will receive the powerstation with 1 -100w USB-C + 15W USB-C (plus 15w USB-A)**
I use this as my car travel power station. It powers a compressor cooler/car fridge that draws 35W-55W. Runs the cooler for 24hours in summer temperatures. In the back of the car running the 60L cooler, after 9 hours the Jackery 300 was down to 64%.
When we stopped for the night at a hotel, we would plug the Jackery in on the nightstand (there’s usually only one AC outlet on a lamp) and plug all our phones/ipads and use the AC outlet for C-PAP. Just make sure it’s set to 12h or 24H for C-PAP or you will be gasping in the night as it only draws 35W(AC outlet) and the Jackery will shut off.
Charging: Charges fast, usually shows 208W or higher. When charging iPads AND charging the Jackery, the wattage is higher. Usually 250w, so I’m guessing this is the “pass through” charging for the devices plugged into the Jackery and the battery charger for the Jackery. If you are traveling, plugging it in at a Starbucks/fast food restaurant for half an hour or so will take you from 25% to 70%.
Solar charging is fiddley using the adapters and the in/out USB-C port. 100W panel seems throttled to 45W when charging. I wish it had a proper 8040 plug or Anderson plug for solar input. When solar charging, you lose one of the USB-C ports, the 100W one. Leaves you with the 15W USB-C, really not great, needs more ports and 15W isn’t enough to use a hub.

The app works OK to control the AC/DC/light, but you can’t turn the main Jackery Power ON or OFF. You have to physically push the power button on the Jackery, then the app will work.

I have a 300W/600W mini Ramen cooker. When set to 300W, it draws 322W (see picture) and the Jackery cuts off after 45 seconds or so. So the 300W inverter doesn’t have any wiggle room, 300W, that’s it!!

The display is bright and easy to read/figure out. I find it to be very useful, decently portable and so far…well built.

Well I was going to order the 500 for my cpap machine so when I go camping I can use it without needing to alway camp near power I did some research and found out with plugging in the machine into the ac outlet and using no hose warmer and not humidifier I’d get 8-9 hours of use I the do to ac adapter I got 4 7-8 hour runs on my machine I did it twice for a total of 8 nights with same results with no heated hose or humidifier I’m sure I can use it for a 3 biter with also charging cell phone or laptop but I’m very happy with it’s performance and power ability’s it charges really fast it’s small and easy to store and makes no noise can sleep with it next to your head if you had to this thing is awesome and well built and it does everything it claims to and for under a dollar a watt cone with charging cable direction and a bright light still can’t get over how small it is and works perfect for my use

I bought the Jackery 300 Plus primarily to use while camping. We’ve been through several battery-powered air mattresses over the years for tenting out. But inevitably they all eventually leak and you have to throw it all out and start over. The Jackery has enough power to inflate and top off ANY electric air mattress we choose now, so we were able to buy something of higher quality while not being limited to those mattresses that have battery power built-in. It also worked great to power a Treva portable fan and re-charge all my devices throughout the week. We made it ho9me after 5 nights and I still had 60% power remaining on the 300. I loved it so much, I bought the 1000 v2 to keep at home for power outages!

Bought 2 years ago, charged and sat on the shelf unused until now with the power being knocked out by a storm.

This battery held it’s charge at 100% these past 2 years. My phone, laptop and the units emergency light running; providing time until depleted which says 15hrs. I think this unit would last for about 2 days of usage if I shut everything off when I goto sleep and turn it back on tomorrow evening or a midday charge.

Great to have in an a emergency! Quality stuff! Lightweight. Great value.

If it had an additional input for solar, it would be much better. Use case. Running a Starlink mini, a laptop, and iPhone with the 300Plus powered by a solar panel. This scenario requires 1 input for solar, 1 usb-c for laptop, another USB port for iPhone, and AC plug for Starlink mini. If you lock up the USB-C port with solar input, you can’t connect your laptop to the device unless you get a brick and plug it into the AC outlet. The point of the mentioned configuration is to keep things light and backpackable. The lack of an additional input port for solar would round the package out. Right now, this functionality can be picked up by Bluetti AC-2A and EB3A. However, the 2A has too little power and the EB3A is too heavy and bulky. The 300Plus being small and lightweight with high 288Wh storage could have nailed it for my use case if it had the extra solar input. But it does not. Will need to return because it does not have the minimal functionality I need.

Warning: Two versions exist of this powerstation. The older model has 2x100W USB-C ports, while the current model has 1x100W USB-C in/out port plus a 15W USB-C port. Amazon and Jackery websites show photos of both versions, and YouTube reviews feature the discontinued 2x100W version. You’ll receive the newer model with 1x100W USB-C, 1x15W USB-C, and 1x15W USB-A.

I use this as my car travel power station for my compressor cooler/car fridge (35W-55W). It powers the cooler for 24 hours in summer temperatures. After 9 hours running a 60L cooler, the Jackery 300 was still at 64%.

At hotels, we place it on the nightstand to charge phones/iPads and power a C-PAP machine through the AC outlet. Important: Set the C-PAP timer to 12h or 24h, as the Jackery will automatically shut off with the 35W load otherwise.

Charging is fast, typically showing 208W or higher. When simultaneously charging devices through the Jackery, it shows around 250W, suggesting efficient pass-through charging. A quick 30-minute charge at a restaurant can boost it from 25% to 70%.

Solar charging is finicky with adapters and limited to about 45W despite using a 100W panel. I wish it had a standard 8040 or Anderson plug for solar input. When solar charging, you lose the 100W USB-C port, leaving only the inadequate 15W USB-C port.

The app works for controlling AC/DC/light functions but can’t turn the main power on/off – you must physically press the power button first.

The 300W inverter has no overhead capacity – my 300W Ramen cooker drawing 322W causes the Jackery to shut off after 45 seconds.

Overall, the display is bright and intuitive. The unit is useful, reasonably portable, and appears well-built.

Excellent quality Jackery product! I plan to upgrade to the 2000 Plus model in the future, but this serves as a fantastic power source for now. One thing to note – if you want to charge it using a Jackery solar panel, you’ll need a DC8020 to USB-C adapter which doesn’t come in the package. Besides that minor issue, it’s a flawless compact power solution!

It provides me with just enough electricity for 2 nights of 6 hours. For this, you need to turn off the heating plate and the heating tube. (COMMENTS CLAIMING THEIR CPAP ONLY CONSUMED 25% OF ENERGY ARE FALSE. A CPAP USES 50% FOR ONE 7-HOUR NIGHT. YOU’LL BARELY GET 2 NIGHTS OF 6 HOURS) It’s excellent for charging electronic devices. I recommend it, but it has limitations.P.S. Don’t you find it strange that people write comments as long as novels? They’re fake.

I’ve been extremely satisfied with this purchase. We acquired it approximately 11 months ago for an Adirondack trip, and it worked flawlessly. This charger has proven versatile beyond camping. During a power outage, our adjustable beds were stuck upright, but this device allowed us to return them to a flat position. I’ve even powered my coffee maker with it during outages (because missing morning coffee is unthinkable!). We regularly use it during volunteer night watches at construction sites to charge our iPads and phones, and even after 5 hours of continuous use, the battery remains strong. I highly recommend this reliable charger to anyone in the market for one.

I’ve been looking for a product like this for a while. Unfortunately, when mine was delivered today, it didn’t work – it wouldn’t charge at all. After a few hours of trying, I had to return it to Amazon. Customer service suggested it had a defective inverter, possibly due to rough handling during shipping, though the packaging looked fine. Just my luck to receive a faulty unit. I’m undecided whether to give Jackery another chance or explore other options.

I’ve purchased my third Jackery product after years of using their devices. The smartphone app is a great feature on this model, allowing me to monitor and control power settings. I appreciate the updated battery technology which provides faster charging capabilities and promises a longer lifespan.

The battery retention is excellent, making it ideal for automotive camping trips. It successfully inflated and deflated a queen air mattress and charged my phone, yet only used 5% of its power. This performance was during cold conditions between 32-45 degrees Fahrenheit.

As a scout leader who camps frequently, I needed a portable power solution for my CPAP. I was initially skeptical about the Jackery’s size, but wanted something durable, portable, and capable of lasting multiple nights.

After testing at home, I found using the AC inverter only gave me about 5 hours of power (with my wife noting fan noise). The pass-through charging worked well until fully charged. Using a DC adapter improved runtime to about 7 hours. When I disabled my CPAP’s humidifier, heated tube, and other features, the battery only used 13% after 7.5 hours – a minor comfort sacrifice.

During a weekend camping trip, the Jackery performed excellently. It powered my CPAP for two nights and charged my phone and watch, with 60% battery remaining. I believe it could last a full week at summer camp, and if needed, recharges in about 2 hours via AC.

While solar panels are available, they seem like one more thing to potentially break, and our campsites are typically shaded. I’m curious about winter performance, and will eventually need something smaller for backpacking trips, but for now, this meets my needs perfectly. Looking forward to restful nights in the woods and on our boat.

I’m somewhat let down by the transition from the Explorer 300. The new model lacks a dedicated DC charging port, forcing you to use USB-C for car charging, which leaves only one usable port with a mere 15W output. Finding a 100W USB-C car charger has been challenging, and Jackery doesn’t provide one. Another drawback is that Bluetooth and WiFi remain active whenever the power bank is on, causing unnecessary power drain during low-usage scenarios. While the product supposedly offers more battery cycles, whether this actually results in better overall longevity remains to be seen.

I wish this power station had a dedicated solar input port. Currently, I’m trying to power my Starlink mini, laptop, and iPhone with the 300Plus connected to a solar panel. This setup requires multiple connections: solar input, USB-C for laptop, USB for iPhone, and AC for Starlink. Unfortunately, when the USB-C port is occupied by solar input, I can’t connect my laptop directly without using an AC adapter brick, which defeats my goal of keeping everything lightweight and backpack-friendly. This missing feature is available on Bluetti models like the AC-2A (too underpowered) and EB3A (too bulky). The 300Plus has great capacity (288Wh) and is nicely compact, but without that extra solar input, it doesn’t meet my specific needs. Unfortunately, I’ll have to return it.
