Introduction

The Shark Freestyle cordless vacuum is a lightweight, stick-style cleaner built for quick whole-home pickups and easy manoeuvrability. At just 7.5 pounds it’s designed for anyone who wants a fuss-free vacuum that moves from living room to stairs without wrestling a cord or an upright canister.

If you need something compact for everyday cleaning — especially in homes with mixed floor types and occasional pet hair — this model aims to balance portability with usable suction and a simple maintenance cycle. Quick verdict: a solid, budget-friendly cordless stick for light-to-moderate cleaning needs. (Primary keyword used naturally: Shark Freestyle cordless vacuum)

What’s in the Box

  • Shark Freestyle cordless vacuum
  • Precision charger (doubles as a storage block)
  • Manufacturer paperwork / quick start guide (Not specified whether manual included)

If any accessory or additional nozzle was expected, it’s not listed in the product information (Not specified).

Design & Build

The Shark Freestyle cordless vacuum adopts a slim stick profile and minimal weight (7.5 lbs), which makes carrying it up and down stairs or switching between rooms noticeably easier than traditional uprights (source: listing, checked 2025). The body appears to be mostly ABS/PC plastic — standard for this class — keeping the tool light while remaining reasonably durable for daily household use.

The motorized floorhead includes a two-speed brushroll drive; the vacuum’s layout keeps the dust cup and motor assembly low on the stick for a relatively low center of gravity. That improves handling during pushes and turns. The dust cup is an easy-access top-mounted bin, and the charger doubles as a wall-mounted storage dock to keep the unit off the floor and charging when not in use (source: listing, checked 2025).

Because dimensions beyond weight aren’t specified, assume it follows the narrow-profile footprint typical of cordless sticks. If exact measurements or clearance profiles matter for storage in tight closets, those are Not listed.

Key Features

2-speed brushroll: optimized for carpet and hard floors

The two-speed brushroll lets you switch between a gentler setting for hard floors and a higher spin rate for carpets. In practice, the lower speed reduces scatter and surface damage on tile or hardwood, while the higher speed agitates carpet fibers to pull embedded dust and pet hair. This flexibility matters when you have mixed surfaces and don’t want to swap tools mid-clean.

Benefit in daily life: flip to the higher brush setting for area rugs and entry mats, then drop to low for quick cleanups on kitchen tile.

XL dust cup capacity: .64 quart for extended runs

A .64 quart (about 0.6 L) dust cup is larger than many ultra-compact handhelds, which means fewer interruptions to empty mid-clean. For small apartments or short sessions this capacity lets you clean multiple rooms before needing to empty the bin.

Practical advantage: less frequent emptying during a single cleaning session — helpful when tackling common areas or quick tidying before guests arrive (source: listing, checked 2025).

Lightweight, cordless convenience for quick tasks

Weighing 7.5 pounds, the unit prioritizes portability. That weight, combined with cordless freedom, makes it convenient for spot cleaning, vehicle interiors, or moving between floors without unplugging.

Where it helps: quick touch-ups after kids’ snacks, catching tracked-in dirt at the front door, or vacuuming stairs one-handed.

(Secondary keyword used: cordless stick vacuum)

Precision charger that doubles as storage

The charger is designed to act as a storage block, letting you mount or position the vacuum neatly while it charges. The manufacturer lists a 4-hour charge time, which is reasonable for small lithium-ion packs typical in this category. The docked charger reduces clutter and makes the vacuum easy to find when you need it (source: listing, checked 2025).

Note: exact battery runtime on a single charge is Not listed, so plan on checking the manual or product page for run-time expectations before relying on it for longer deep cleans.

Decent power profile: 10.8 volts / 125 watts

The listed electrical figures — 10.8 volts and 125 watts — indicate this is an entry-level to mid-range cordless motor rather than a high-powered upright. That wattage can provide useful suction for everyday debris (crumbs, dust, pet hair), but it isn’t a replacement for a corded high-capacity cleaner on very soiled carpets (source: listing, checked 2025).

Benefit in real life: enough performance for maintenance cleaning and frequent touch-ups without the weight and complexity of a full-size vac.

Noise level: 80 dB

A listed noise level of 80 dB places this vacuum in the moderate-noise range — louder than handhelds that advertise “quiet” operation but typical for motorized brushroll devices. Expect audible operation during use; it’s not whisper-quiet but won’t be noticeably louder than comparable stick vacuums (source: listing, checked 2025).

If you often clean at night or have noise-sensitive household members, consider this if quiet operation is a priority.

Performance & Use

Setup is straightforward: attach the handle (if shipped in two pieces), dock or plug in the precision charger, and allow a full charge (manufacturer states about 4 hours) before the first deep use (source: listing, checked 2025). The charger’s storage-block design simplifies finding and stowing the vacuum between uses.

In everyday use, the two-speed brushroll is the most practical control. Use low speed for hard surfaces to avoid scattering debris and reduce noise. Switch to high when cleaning low- to medium-pile carpeting, area rugs, or when removing pet hair embedded in fabric. The .64 quart dust cup is easy to access for emptying — tip the canister open over a bin and give it a short shake; no bag changes are required.

Maintenance tips

  • Empty the dust cup after larger pickups to maintain suction consistency.
  • Inspect the brushroll for hair wrap after cleaning pets; cut and remove wrapped strands to prevent bearing wear.
  • Clean any pre-filters or inlets if the unit begins to lose suction (filter access is Not specified; check the included manual).
  • Wipe the exterior and floorhead to remove dust build-up; avoid submerging any electrical components.

Performance notes

  • Suction and agitation are suited to light-to-moderate household debris.
  • The 2-speed brushroll improves pet hair pickup compared with brushless heads, but this unit is best described as a maintenance pet hair vacuum rather than a deep-cleaner for heavy shedding breeds.
  • If you need long continuous runtime or heavy-duty carpet deep cleaning, consider higher-capacity models. For quick, frequent touch-ups or apartment living, the balance of weight and performance works well.

Who Should Buy

  • Apartment dwellers and renters who need a lightweight, easy-to-store cordless vacuum for daily touch-ups.
  • Households with mixed surfaces (hard floors + low-pile carpets) where a two-speed brushroll adds real utility.
  • Buyers seeking a straightforward, no-frills cleaner for crumbs, dust, and light pet hair.
  • People who value a compact dock/charger to keep the vacuum ready and out of the way.

Who Shouldn’t Buy

  • Homes that require extended continuous runtime for whole-house deep cleans — battery runtime is not listed and likely limited.
  • Users who need a heavy-duty solution for thick carpets or large amounts of pet dander from heavy-shedding breeds — this unit is better for maintenance than restoration cleaning.
  • Shoppers wanting an all-in-one kit with multiple tool heads and attachments — only the vacuum and charger are specified.
  • Those needing a very quiet vacuum; the listing cites around 80 dB, which is not ultra-quiet.

Closing — Should You Buy It?

If you want a straightforward, lightweight stick vacuum for daily tidying and occasional pet-hair maintenance, the Shark Freestyle cordless vacuum is a practical choice that prioritizes portability and simple operation. It’s not a heavy-duty deep cleaner, and several useful specs like runtime and filter detail are not listed in the provided information, so confirm those on the retailer or manufacturer page if runtime and accessory options are important to you.

If you primarily need fast, frequent cleanups with minimal storage fuss, this is worth considering. If your cleaning needs include long sessions, dense carpets, or heavy shedding pets, look at higher-capacity cordless or corded alternatives.

Unbelievable! I had an upright that I’ve been using for my twice weekly vacuuming. I noticed it was not picking up as well as it should so I decided on this Shark upright as it’s just what I needed. It was very easy to assemble with clear instructions. There was a charge in the battery upon receipt but I put it on the base for a full charge. Just a few hours and it was ready to go.
I’m absolutely amazed at how much just a brief run over two large area rugs and two smaller runners filled the dust cup! It was so nice to move from area to area without the hassle of plugging/unplugging a cord. Cordless makes it so much faster! Clean up was very simple with easy disassembly of the cup.
I recommend this vacuum if you’re looking for a somewhat lighter weight upright with excellent suction power.

I have a dog and this guy is a life saver for dog hair and word floors. I have it plugged in in the corner of my office. Whenever I notice a bit of hair collecting I just quick run around the house with this vacuum for 15 minutes. It’s light weight, super easy to use, and the fact that it’s cordless is just amazing. Absolutely perfect.

To start with….I love this vacuum. It’s lightweight, easy to empty and works great on my many carpeted stairs. Also it works over all the ruggables throughout the house. My other vacuum cleaners pull the top part away from the velcro and jam up the beater brush. This vacuum is powerful but manages not to get jammed up with the ruggables. My one big complaint: I go through one of these vacuums every year. I use it everyday on the first floor of my house. The problem: I go to start the vacuum by tapping the power button and nothing happens or for a brief moment it starts and then dies. I watched the YouTube videos on troubleshooting for this model and followed the instructions. They indicated that almost always the above “behavior” means there is a plug or jam. I keep the filters clean and have checked for jams (there haven’t been). I chalk this up to a year of constant use and after all for the price I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that it doesn’t last past about a year and a half. And because it would cost more than I paid for it to repair it I just by another. I have a standby corded Dyson to pick up the slack. I don’t like having to dispose of my no longer working Sharks in a landfill.

I’ve bougth three of these now and they’re just great. Simple, easy and no-nonsense vacuums. They do a great job and are easy to clean and empty. My mom turned me on to them and she’s a cleaning freak. No clumsy attachments or junk to break off. In the last few years I’ve used three different high-end Dysons and I think this little one does a better job and is much easier to use and maintain. A great value.

It’s ok but if I chose again I’d send more and get something that is more flexible and can fit into tight spaces.

I absolutely love this product!! It picks up dust a lot better than my old vacuum cleaner. The suction power is amazing and it was well worth what I paid for it! I love how easy it is to store without taking up a lot of space. The only complaint I have is that I wish the canister that holds the dust and other stuff that gets picked up was bigger. Other than that it is a great product.

There are exactly two things I like about this vacuum – the portable size/weight and the fact that it’s battery operated. That is where the love ends. I don’t think I’ve written a “bad” review before, but my annoyance about this product has compelled me to do so. Our home is 90% wood flooring with one decent sized low-nap area rug – seems like we should be a perfect fit for this type of vacuum, but I find that there are more things it WON’T suck up than stuff it will and this is very noticeable with bare feet on a wood floor. My list of things this vacuum won’t suck up –
    1. Cheerios (or similar small pieces of cereal/crackers/what-have you.) We have a child and these items are at least 50% of the reason we vacuum in the first place. It might fling it, even break it…but it really doesn’t want to suck these up.
    2. Sand or rock chips – we live on a gravel road. Little tiny bits of rock and sand end up around our doorway…this vacuum appears to suck them up, only to spit them back out elsewhere in my home as I continue to vacuum. I think they just get caught in the brush. I’m not talking big rocks here…just teeny little bits of sand! I’ve tried with both speeds of the brush – the higher speed just flings them everywhere.
    3. Small scraps of paper – see number 1. We have a child. Why are these tiny lightweight bits of paper so difficult to vacuum? I can go back and forth over it 20 times and MAYBE it will suck it up if I hit it just right.
    4. The straw that broke the camel’s back today? A plastic swing tag. You know, the kind that holds a price tag onto a new shirt – only minus the actual price tag. Just a tiny, insignificant piece of plastic and it WOULD NOT SUCK IT UP. I tried every angle. I tried for longer than I care to admit. I would have wasted less time and energy by getting a broom and dustpan (for all the above, really!)
I will say, this this thing WILL suck up pet hair fairly decently. That’s really all I have to say that’s positive about the suction. We tried troubleshooting as much as we could – emptying out the vac regularly, etc. No dice.

So, onto the next problem – somewhere around the third week of usage, our unit came apart right where the floor portion meets the upright portion (photo attached.) There is nothing that broke from what we can tell – just sort of a plug that pushes into a groove (with no locking mechanism), so very easy to put back together, but now comes apart every time we pull the vacuum back towards us when vacuuming our area rug. It’s literally so loose of a connection, that we now have to push it around (no pulling!) on the rug to vacuum it which seems like a heck of a lot of fuss considering it still doesn’t suck up the stuff. We purchased this as a replacement for a vacuum that never gave us trouble until it just died one day. I just bought a newer version of that vacuum here on amazon. I’m done with this thing!
