The generator arrived with a low battery voltage of 4.6 volts that needed charging and completely dry of engine oil. These units won’t start without oil due to a safety switch. I learned the hard way that you need to pour in the entire 18 oz bottle of included oil, as there’s a low oil sensor that prevents starting. Once I added the oil, the engine started up perfectly without any issues.

With the Predator, I had to return it 3-4 times in less than a year before giving up on it. I bought this generator based on its good Consumer Reports rating and wanted the push button start feature. Delivery was good and assembly was straightforward with all necessary tools included. However, I faced an issue with the battery connection. The instructions mentioned attaching the battery, but it seemed already connected. When the push button didn’t work, I used the pull cord successfully.
Customer support was excellent and quickly answered my call. I discovered the battery terminals had protective plugs secured with a zip tie that needed to be removed before connecting. Once I did this, the push button start worked perfectly. The instructions should have mentioned these plugs or included a picture to avoid the support call. Now I feel prepared for power outages in the Northeast.
