Removing Carpet Stain the Easy Way
Depending on the quality, a carpet can last from 1 to 25 years. Carpets used to be made from wool, but now, synthetic fibers like polyester or nylon can also be used. Installing carpets can cost anywhere between 8 USD to 15 USD per square foot, depending on padding, labor, and the carpet itself.
Since the average US bedroom is around 130 square feet, the average price for installing a carpet in the bedroom is around 1,040 USD to 1,950 USD. Just because of a stubborn stain, you cannot replace your room’s entire carpet. Don’t worry, for there are ways to get rid of small stains on your carpet. For the larger and more stubborn stains, some people use carpet cleaning services. Listed below are some of the common stains people usually encounter and how to clean them.
Coffee
Who has not spilled coffee before? Remember the time you were so sleepy that you brought coffee to your room? And as if in slow motion, you bump your elbow while closing the door, and you see your coffee spill on your light-colored carpet. Your mouth is agape as if in a silent scream of horror. Before you know it, the stain is spreading fast.
To remove coffee stains, first, blot the stain with a towel. Remember not to scrub the stain, just blot it. Now, use your stain remover. Wipe from the outside to the inside; this is to prevent coffee from spreading. You can also use cold water to flush the stain. If cold water does not work, apply liquid detergent. You can also use baking soda, salt, toothpaste, and white vinegar. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean your carpet gently. If you have a shag carpet, you need to spend more time wiping because of the longer fibers.
Blood
Some accidents are just that – completely unexpected. With some patience, you can altogether remove blood stains. Remember that you have to start removing this type of stain as soon as possible.
To remove blood stains, you can use an ammonia solution. Mix one tablespoon of ammonia to one-half cup of warm water. Then using a sponge, blot the stain. Remember not to scrub it. Also, wipe from the edges to the middle. If this does not work, some people use the handy dishwashing liquid with a cup of cold water. Other people use a baking soda paste. This paste is applied to the carpet and is left for some time. The area is then blotted using a sponge. If it is too dry, more water can be applied. If the stain cannot be removed, some carpet cleaning services can use pressure cleaning to finally erase that stubborn stain and leave your carpet clean and stain-free.
Pet excretions
Your pet almost always gives you joy, unless it suddenly excretes in your carpet. To remove pet excretions, you can use dishwashing liquid and one tablespoon of white vinegar diluted in a cup of warm water. Apply the solution to the affected area and leave it on for some time. You can then patiently remove the stain by blotting a sponge over it.
When you get surprised by something, you tend to act before you think. The tiny stain can spread in just a few seconds, and you are left in terror; wondering how it became that way. Just like any incident, not thinking clearly can lead to a worse situation.
Amazing post I learned a lot through this.
