Introduction

The Roomba 105 Combo Robot is a mid‑range robot that combines vacuuming and mopping in a single unit. It’s built for busy households that want hands‑free floor care with smarter navigation and stronger suction than older Roomba models. If you have a mix of hard floors and area rugs, this model promises automatic carpet avoidance while mopping and precise room cleaning controlled from an app or voice assistant.

Quick verdict: For homes that value dependable navigation and a single‑device vac+ mop routine, the Roomba 105 Combo Robot makes a compelling, user‑friendly choice—especially if you’re upgrading from a basic Roomba 600‑series machine.

What’s in the Box

  • Roomba 105 Combo Robot (device)
  • Microfiber mop pad (included)
  • Other items: Not specified (manufacturer packaging contents such as charging base, power cord, extra filters, or extra brushes are not listed)

Design & Build

The Roomba 105 Combo Robot follows the familiar low‑profile, circular Roomba silhouette designed to slip under sofas and tables. The exterior combines textured and smooth finishes for a contemporary look that blends with modern home décor. The top houses a simple control pad for manual start, pause and spot clean functions; most customization happens in the app.

Materials and durability

  • The casing appears to be high‑grade plastic with matte accents; the mop assembly and micro‑pump components are integrated into the underside. Specific material grades and IP ratings are not listed (Not specified).
  • The integrated mopping system includes a microfiber pad designed to be removable for cleaning.

Size and ergonomics

  • Low profile helps it get under low furniture, while the circular form factor enables easy turning and edge access.
  • Weight and exact dimensions are not specified (Not specified), so lifting and storage considerations should be checked in person if mobility or shelving space is a concern.

Key Features

70X More Power‑Lifting Suction (vs Roomba 600 series)

Benefit: Stronger suction lifts embedded dirt and dust bunnies more effectively than entry‑level models.Where it helps in real life: If you have pets or frequently track in dirt from outdoors, the increased suction helps remove hair and ground‑in particles from hard floors and low‑pile rugs. The manufacturer states the 70X figure as a comparison to the Roomba 600 series (source: listing, checked 2025).

4‑Stage Cleaning System

Benefit: Multiple cleaning actions—suction, brushes, edge sweepers, and the mop pad—work together to capture surface debris and polish floors.Where it helps in real life: Living rooms and kitchens that see a mix of crumbs, dust, and fine grit benefit from the layered approach: brushes loosen debris, suction captures it, and the mop pad removes residue, leaving a visually cleaner finish without manual sweeping beforehand.

ClearView LiDAR Navigation

Benefit: LiDAR mapping builds detailed floor plans and allows the robot to clean in neat, efficient rows and avoid obstacles—even in low light.Where it helps in real life: For homes with irregular layouts, chairs, toys, or pet bowls, LiDAR reduces missed spots and unnecessary bumping. The mapping also enables targeted room cleaning and scheduling. The listing references ClearView LiDAR for mapping and obstacle avoidance.

Carpet Avoidance While Mopping

Benefit: The robot automatically detects carpets and avoids them when the mop is in use, preventing rugs from getting wet without requiring complex programming.Where it helps in real life: If you have area rugs or runners, the robot will skip carpeted areas while mopping hard floors—useful in kitchens and entryways where rugs are common.

Built‑in Micro‑Pump and SmartScrub Mode

Benefit: A micro‑pump controls water flow to the microfiber pad, keeping it uniformly moist; SmartScrub mode increases scrubbing action for deeper cleaning, claimed as 2X deeper scrubbing.Where it helps in real life: Tacky kitchen spills and scuffed high‑traffic zones can need more than a passive wipe. The controlled water flow reduces streaking and over‑wetting, while the extra scrubbing helps lift dried residue (source: listing, checked 2025).

Fully Customizable Cleaning via App

Benefit: Use the Roomba Home app to choose vac only, mop only, or combo modes; schedule cleanings, target specific rooms, set the number of passes, and adjust suction and mop output.Where it helps in real life: Families with varied daily routines can set zone‑specific preferences—quiet mode during naps, extra passes in entryways on rainy days, or lower suction for delicate surfaces.

Voice and App Control

Benefit: Compatible with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant for voice commands; app control allows remote starts and status checks.Where it helps in real life: Hands‑free starts and status updates are convenient when you’re leaving the house or want the floors cleaned before guests arrive.

Wi‑Fi Setup on 2.4 GHz

Benefit: Uses a 2.4 GHz network for initial setup and operation, allowing reliable remote control via the app.Where it helps in real life: Most home routers support 2.4 GHz, which penetrates walls better than 5 GHz—helpful if your router and robot operate from different areas. Note: it will stay on 2.4 GHz after setup; your phone can switch back to 5 GHz without affecting the robot.

Performance & Use

Real‑world cleaning

  • Vacuuming: The increased suction and multi‑surface brush work well on hard floors and low‑pile rugs. Expect better pickup of pet hair and debris than basic older Roombas.
  • Mopping: The micro‑pump keeps the pad evenly damp, preventing puddles and minimizing streaks. Because the robot avoids carpets while mopping, you don’t need to create virtual barriers for rugs.
  • Navigation: LiDAR mapping enables straight, methodical passes rather than random bump‑and‑hope patterns. That translates into faster, more efficient cleaning cycles and consistent coverage.

Setup tips

  • Place the charging base against a wall with at least a meter of clear space on either side and two meters in front, if possible, to allow unobstructed return navigation.
  • Use the Roomba Home app to run an initial map of your home before scheduling regular cleans. Walk through the house and remove loose cords or small obstacles that could tangle the brushes.
  • If you want the robot to start with vacuuming only, double‑check mode selection in the app; physical buttons provide basic controls but the app unlocks full customization.

Maintenance tips

  • Empty the dust bin after each run if you have pets or heavy debris; otherwise check it every few cycles.
  • Rinse and air‑dry the microfiber mop pad after each mopping session to prevent odors; replace when worn.
  • Replace filters and brushes per the app’s filter‑life indicators or manufacturer guidelines—exact replacement intervals are not specified (Not specified).
  • Inspect the micro‑pump area periodically for blockages if you use thicker cleaning solutions—manufacturer recommends compatible cleaning solutions but does not list specific brands (Not specified).

Practical considerations

  • The robot’s carpet‑avoidance while mopping is automatic, which simplifies mixed‑floor homes. You don’t need to program keep‑out zones for rugs unless you also want to restrict vacuuming or schedule special room cleaning.
  • Because it remains on a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi band, ensure your router’s 2.4 GHz network is active; the robot may not use 5 GHz for its operation.

I recently got my hands on the Roomba 105, and after spending some time with it, here’s my honest take:

First impressions and setup: Right out of the box, the Roomba 105 felt sleek and well built. The setup was refreshingly straightforward, I had it out and cleaning in under 10 minutes. The instructions were clear, and syncing it to the app was painless, a definite win for anyone who appreciates ease of use.

Performance: Where the Roomba 105 truly shines is its smart navigation. It transitions seamlessly from carpets to hard floors, adjusting its suction power automatically. Watching it navigate around furniture and corners without getting stuck was pretty impressive. The vacuuming performance itself is solid, it picked up dust, pet hair, and crumbs effectively, even in spots I typically struggle to clean thoroughly.

Mopping: I was genuinely excited about the mopping function, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s not going to replace a deep manual clean, but for everyday upkeep, it’s a solid performer. My hardwood floors felt noticeably cleaner and maintained between deep cleans, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Noise levels: Another pleasant surprise was the noise, or rather, the lack thereof. The Roomba 105 is quiet enough that I often forget it’s running, even when I’m in the same room. It’s unobtrusive enough to run during work calls or movie nights without becoming a distraction.

Final thoughts: Overall, the Roomba 105 is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a reliable, everyday cleaning companion. It’s user-friendly, effective on multiple surfaces, and it’s quiet operation makes it an easy addition to our home. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your cleaning routine, this little robot could easily become your favorite new housemate.

I’m a big fan of Roomba and have been using an older model for years, but it didn’t have a mopping feature so I was excited to try this upgraded version that does both. Setup was simple, and the app made the whole process easy to manage. I love how it maps the house and automatically separates rooms, which gives me the flexibility to customize my cleaning. For example, I can vacuum and mop the kitchen, then just vacuum the living room without moving the device or reprogramming anything. The suction is powerful enough to leave visible vacuum lines in my carpet, similar to what I’d get using my upright vacuum. It also does a great job on my tile floors. I’m impressed by how the brushes reach into corners and pick up every little dust bunny, which is especially helpful since I have a dog. Speaking of my dog he isn’t a fan and leaves the room when it starts, but I love how well it handles pet hair and dust. It makes daily upkeep much easier. The water tank is easy to fill and swapping the mop cloth is simple thanks to the velcro attachment. Emptying the dustbin is quick and hassle free too. Overall, this Roomba has been a huge time saver. The ability to vacuum and mop in one pass keeps my home feeling fresh and clean with minimal effort. I’m really happy with the upgrade.

Worked great for a week. Now right wheel is frozen
Seems to be a common problem

Waiting to hear from Roomba customer service
Finally got through to customer service, and offshore outsourced boiler room.

I had my serial number and they were actually able to see that there was an error code for my Roomba, but they wanted to have
    A photograph of the Roomba
A photograph of the wheel that didn’t turn
A video of the wheel that didn’t turn
A screenshot of when I purchased it and then a screenshot of the invoice
This took an hour. At this point, the lady at the other end said she now needed to take this case to a different department to see if they would authorize a replacement or repair.

At this point I was about to lose my mind and I had already checked with Amazon and they are going to take this product back with no questions ask. Much less of video.

So thank you Amazon for your return product and as far as I robot goes, your customer service sucks beans

Worked fine for a week, then the right wheel froze — appears to be a common issue. I contacted iRobot customer service and reached an offshore call center. They saw an error code with my serial number but asked for a photo of the Roomba, a photo and a video of the stuck wheel, plus screenshots of my purchase and invoice. The whole thing took an hour, and then the agent said they’d have to escalate it to another department to decide on repair or replacement. Frustrated, I checked with Amazon and they agreed to take it back with no questions asked. Thanks to Amazon for the easy return — iRobot’s customer service was awful.

Incredible improvement over the original Discovery 4210 model. New unit is very quiet, has suction vs just basic sweeping, and the damp mop works reasonably well on tile and hardwood. It is much more thorough and there is less bumping/hammering on the furniture.

Unit does have a bit of a tussle with thresholds. There is no “launch mode” to get over the threshold like my son’s brand has. As a result I have a cable guide on the tile floor with graduated edges which the old Discovery would force its way across but this new unit just gives up on.

Also, the mobile app leaves a lot to be desired. The room mapping functionality at the unit level is fine but the use of it and the interface at the mobile app level is the issue. The mobile app is cumbersome at best which generally detracts from the overall excellence of the product.

Battery life seems to be very reasonable. We will see how long the battery lasts.

Docking or “returning to home” works very well. I’ve only had to rescue the unit twice (once stuck in a speaker stand base, another when it tried to eat a microfiber polishing cloth it found somewhere.

Over all, short of the app, having it keep my office floor (artic white large format tile) is a god-send, … love the product in spite of the mobile app.

Very easy to operate. Cleans in a logical pattern. Can set up routine cleaning through the app which automates daily or custom schedule cleaning. Pairing with internet was simple once I had my network set up for it. It only works on a 2.4 network so I had to set up a dedicated network on my modem but that was not complicated after I researched it online. It can be used without the app just by pressing a button on its body. Cleans my bare floors and low pile rugs no problem. Mop is ok for light cleaning.

Utter disappointment — this robot constantly gets stuck (stairs, the furnace vent, basically anywhere), won’t return to the dock when the battery is low and simply dies where it is, cleans poorly, and the mopping feature is even worse. Save your money and skip this one.

This Roomba vacuum-and-mop combo is fantastic. Assembly was a breeze — just attach the small brush, snap on the mopping pad, and fill the mop tank with water and solution. Once charged, I installed the app, followed the prompts, and let it explore; it quickly mapped the house room by room and launched its first clean. Navigation is impressively precise: it glides around furniture, cleans under tables, and handles corners with ease. The app offers great customization (clean specific rooms, deep clean, vacuum-only, etc.), which makes scheduling exactly what we need simple. Floor cleaning was our least favorite chore, but thanks to this robot our floors stay consistently clean. It’s smart, quiet, efficient, and extremely user-friendly — highly recommended.

I never thought that I’d go out and buy a robot vacuum (because it just sounds kind of gimmicky), but here we are! I’ll start by admitting that I was wrong. I initially thought “there’s no way a tiny little robot like that can do any actual cleaning,” but decided to try it out anyway. We have combination hardwood floors and rugs through most of the house, so I went with the vac and mop option. Setup was a breeze. You just unbox everything, start charging the little guy, and download the iRobot app. To program, all you have to do is fire up the robot, and it Maps your entire floor plan by itself! It’s easy to split the floor plan into different sections, and give each area a name. Then, you can create routines in the app, for which areas to clean on which days. You can also select the level of cleaning you want to do, or have the robot spot clean an area on your map. As far as the actual vacuuming, it does a pretty good job of cleaning small messes (hair, crumbs, etc.) but I’m not sure how it would do on bigger jobs. I have been running the vacuum a couple of times a week, and it’s mostly to maintain an already clean living area. One thing that I wish I could change though is the battery life. This particular model has a battery that lasts less than an hour, so the robot has to go and recharge in the middle of cleaning if I’m trying to do the entire house. I think what I’ll eventually do is split the area up so one section is done per day, and have a multi-day routine setup. The mop function works pretty well also, but again I’ve only used it to maintain cleanliness around the house.

I’m very happy with how well this works. With three cats, daily vacuuming was becoming exhausting, but this picks up fur and debris effortlessly and is easy to clean. I also snagged it on sale for $100 off, which was a nice bonus. It has made my life easier and cleaning much less overwhelming.

This robot is a complete disappointment. It constantly gets stuck—on stairs, on the furnace air vent, and pretty much anywhere else it can. When the battery runs low, it doesn’t return to the dock, just dies in place. Cleaning is poor, and the mopping function is even worse. Save your money and avoid this one.

I never thought I’d buy a robot vacuum — it sounded gimmicky — but I was wrong. At first I figured a tiny robot couldn’t really clean, but I decided to try it. We have hardwood and rugs throughout the house, so I chose the vacuum-and-mop option. Setup was effortless: unbox, start charging, and download the iRobot app. Turn it on and it maps your whole floor automatically. You can easily split the map into zones, name each area, and set routines for which rooms to clean on which days. The app also lets you choose cleaning intensity or send the robot to spot-clean a specific spot. For everyday vacuuming it handles small messes like hair and crumbs really well; I’m less sure how it would handle a big, deep clean. I run it a couple times a week mostly for maintenance. My main complaint is battery life — this model lasts under an hour, so it has to recharge mid-clean if I try to do the whole house. My workaround will be to divide the space and schedule different sections on different days. The mop feature works nicely for upkeep as well.

I’m very pleased with the function of this product. I have 3 cats and vacuuming every day was getting to be too much. It picks up the fur and bits easily. It is also easy to clean. I got it on sale, it was marked down by $100.00 which is a bonus. It has made my life easier and cleaning less overwhelming.

Hands down to this amazing Roomba combo vacuum and mop. It was super easy to assemble just the little brush attachment and secure the mopping pad into place, filled the mop compartment with solution and water.
As soon as it was fully charged, I downloaded the Roomba app and followed the steps. I let it go to explore the house and it started creating the map of the house, separating room by room and finally started it’s first cleaning process. Navigation is incredibly accurate it smoothly navigates around furniture, under tables, and even handles tricky corners like a pro.
I love how the app allows for lots of custom cleaning options (only clean certain rooms, deep clean, vacuum only, etc.). Cleaning floors is the least favorite chore in this house, but now our floors stay nice and clean. It’s smart, quiet, efficient, and extremely user-friendly. If you’re looking for a robot vacuum and mop combo that does it all and actually delivers on its promises, this is it. Totally recommend it.

I’ve been a Roomba fan for years and was excited to upgrade to a model that vacuums and mops. Setup was straightforward and the app makes everything easy to control. The mapping and automatic room separation let me customize cleaning — I can mop and vacuum the kitchen then just vacuum the living room without moving or reprogramming the robot. Suction is strong enough to leave visible lines in the carpet, comparable to my upright, and it cleans tile equally well. The brushes reach into corners and pick up every dust bunny (very helpful with a dog), and it handles pet hair and dust admirably — my dog actually leaves the room when it starts. The water tank is simple to fill, the mop cloth attaches with Velcro, and emptying the dustbin is quick and hassle-free. Overall, it’s a major time-saver; cleaning in one pass keeps the house feeling fresh with minimal effort and I’m very happy with the upgrade.
