Introduction
This is a feature-rich robot vacuum from iRobot designed to make everyday floor cleaning largely hands-free. It combines on-board object recognition, room mapping, anti-tangle brushes and an AutoEmpty dock that deposits dirt into an enclosed bag for weeks at a time. This model targets households with pets, kids, or busy schedules that need frequent, reliable cleaning without daily intervention.
In practical terms, the unit recognizes and navigates around small objects, boosts suction on carpets, and sends debris into a sealed dock so you don’t handle dust for a long stretch. Quick verdict: a seriously capable home-cleaning assistant that emphasizes obstacle avoidance and low-maintenance operation. (Primary keyword used: Roomba)
What’s in the Box

Design & Build
The unit’s exterior follows iRobot’s contemporary, low-profile aesthetic with smooth finishes and textured accents that are intended to blend into modern home decor. Materials are not itemized in the listing, but the visible components—top cover, bumper ring and brush bay—appear to be molded plastics and rubber where contact is required (bristles/rubber strips).
Because exact dimensions and weight are not provided, I can’t confirm clearance requirements for sliding under low furniture or the unit’s portability. However, the presence of ClearView Pro LIDAR and multiple sensors implies a stable chassis with a modest height typical of mid‑range robot vacuums. Ergonomics focus on minimal user interaction: the top-level controls are simple and most maintenance is intended to be infrequent thanks to the AutoEmpty Dock.
Key Features
PrecisionVision AI Technology
PrecisionVision AI immediately recognizes and navigates around a wide range of small household obstacles. The listing specifies it detects objects “of all shapes and sizes, including cords, socks, and pet waste” (source: listing, checked 2025). Practically, that means fewer stuck runs and less need to pre-clear the floor before a scheduled clean—helpful during busy mornings or when pets leave unexpected messes. Note: see iRobot.com for full details and limitations.
Dual Rubber Brushes (Anti-Tangle)
Patented dual rubber brushes are designed to flex and maintain contact with all floor types, which reduces tangles from pet hair and long fibers. In real-world homes, this configuration tends to lower brush maintenance frequency and improves hair pickup on both hard floors and area rugs. If you have shedding pets, these brushes are one of the core design choices that prevent frequent brush unclogging.
Extreme Power-Lifting Suction
The unit is marketed with “150x more extreme power-lifting suction” (source: listing, checked 2025). That marketing line indicates a strong focus on airflow and deep pickup, particularly on carpets and high-traffic zones. Pairing the brushes with a high-suction motor helps to lift embedded dirt and redistribute less debris onto surrounding surfaces.
ClearView Pro LIDAR Mapping
ClearView Pro LIDAR maps your home to maximize coverage and improve navigation accuracy both day and night. This sensor suite also includes cliff detection to avoid stairs. The mapping capability enables the robot to create logical routes, remember room layouts, and reduce redundant passes—useful for complex floor plans where random navigation would miss spots or run longer than necessary.
AutoEmpty Dock — Up to 75 Days Hands-Free
The AutoEmpty Dock traps and contains debris in an enclosed bag and is advertised to keep you dust-cloud free for up to 75 days (source: listing, checked 2025). For households that prefer low-touch maintenance, this feature dramatically reduces the frequency you need to physically empty the robot’s bin or handle dust. The dock’s sealed bag also helps contain fine particles down to 0.7 microns, per the listing.
Dirt Detect Technology
Advanced Dirt Detect Technology identifies zones with heavier soiling and repeats cleaning passes to ensure those areas get extra attention. This is particularly valuable around dining tables, entryways, and kid activity areas where messes tend to concentrate. The robot adjusts focus without manual intervention, saving you from running extra cleaning sessions.
Roomba Home App & Intelligent Cleaning Controls
The new app allows room-by-room cleaning, customizable zones, four suction levels, and the option to repeat passes in high-traffic areas. This is useful when you want targeted runs (e.g., kitchen after mealtime) or quieter operation at certain times. Setup through the app also unlocks scheduling and mapping management so you can fine-tune how the robot works around your home.
Adaptive Cleaning Prioritization
The robot “puts data on dirt to good use” by identifying the rooms that get dirty fastest, prioritizing them, and automatically selecting appropriate settings. That means over time the system learns your home’s hotspots and allocates cleaning effort where it’s most needed—useful for mixed-use homes where some rooms require more frequent attention.
Voice Assistant Compatibility
The unit supports Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant, enabling voice-initiated cleaning commands such as “clean the living room.” This is handy for hands-free operation when your phone isn’t handy or you want to trigger a quick spot clean.
Performance & Use
Setup and mapping
- Initial setup requires placing the AutoEmpty Dock on a flat surface and allowing the robot to complete a mapping run. For best results, start with a relatively open floor plan so the LIDAR can quickly scan and stitch together room layouts.
- Allow the robot to complete at least one full mapping session before setting room-specific schedules; subsequent mapping runs refine room boundaries and dirt-priority patterns.
Daily and weekly use
- Schedule regular runs for rooms that accumulate dirt fastest (entryways, kitchens, pet areas). Let the AutoEmpty Dock handle debris storage so daily emptying is unnecessary for most households.
- Use the app’s suction level options to lower noise for evening cleanups and increase power for deeper, post-party or pet-shedding sessions.
Maintenance tips
- Even with the AutoEmpty Dock, the robot’s brushes, filter, and wheels need occasional inspection. Remove hairs or threads wrapped around the brushes to maintain peak performance.
- Replace AutoEmpty Dock bags according to use patterns—manufacturer claims up to 75 days between bag changes under typical conditions (source: listing, checked 2025); homes with heavy shedding or many occupants may need more frequent replacement.
- Keep the robot’s sensors and cliff detectors free of dust for reliable navigation. A dry microfiber cloth works well for this purpose.
Real-world performance notes
- The PrecisionVision AI promise of avoiding a broad range of small obstacles can reduce the number of interrupted runs, but it’s wise to pick up hazardous items and loose cords where possible—no sensor suite is infallible.
- Carpet Boost and the strong suction pairing make the unit more capable on rugs than typical entry-level robot vacuums; however, performance on very deep-pile carpets isn’t specified in the listing.
Pros vs Cons

I’ve owned and loved my Roomba 675 since 2020, and decided to purchase this model for a different level of my house. It’s incredible! It was very easy to unbox and setup, and it quickly mapped several rooms and got right to work. This part of my home has hardwood, tile, short carpet, and shag carpet, and so far it does a great job with all of them. The auto-emptying tank is a really nice upgrade compared to the 675, and this model is quieter too. Very happy with this purchase, highly recommend!

I was hesitant to spend the money, but the iRobot Roomba Plus 504 has absolutely been worth it. I run it a few times a week and it keeps up with pet hair, dust, and daily crumbs better than I ever could. The AutoEmpty Dock is the real hero — no more stopping mid-clean to empty the bin. It sucks everything right into the base and I only have to change the bag maybe once a month.
It maps my space really well (even tricky corners and under furniture), and I love that I can start it from the app while I’m out. The suction is strong, it transitions easily from hardwood to rugs, and it always finds its way home.
The setup was quick — about 10 minutes — and it’s surprisingly quiet compared to older models. I named mine “Rosie” and honestly, she’s part of the family now.
If you’re tired of sweeping or vacuuming constantly, this is 100% worth the investment. My only tip: give it a clear path and tidy up cords before its first run — it’s smart, but not that smart.

I am amazed how easy this iRobot Roomba was to set up. It was very accurate on the layout of my home and I was able to name each room. I can even tell my iRobot to clean a certain room or just spot clean an area and it does it! Besides all those perks, it is great at cleaning carpets and floors. The self cleaning was a fast process too. This is seriously such a time saver! I don’t write reviews often but this product was a major step up from my old Roomba.

Awesome find on prime days! The vacuum does a fantastic job cleaning and has been great for keeping a tidy house. The noise level is louder than expected, but I think it is due to our “normal” vacuum being so quiet comparatively. So happy with the cleaning job we can overlook the noise level!

As the owner of three pets, this Roomba has been a game-changer for our household. It consistently picks up every bit of hair and dust, so we no longer have to worry about vacuuming. We had an older Roomba before, and this updated model far exceeded our expectations. The automatic emptying dock is brilliant, and the smart mapping makes it easy to keep certain rooms off-limits. We should have bought one of these years ago.

Inspite of the description and specifics this model is incapable of mapping more than one floor. The app is so basic. I was on online chat with 4 different people. They said of course it does. I had 4 different opinions as to how to do more maps. As they are researching i got disconnected for using too much time. All of the agents were very nice and helpful. But we didnt get to finish. Last agent was asking me to select commands that was not on the app. Double checked to make sure i was on the correct app. You scan code that takes you to the app. Cant mess this up. 2 days i spent on chats. Finally i clicked on robot and found reset to factory settings so roomba could map the second floor. Then clean then repeat on first floor. False advertising. Fix description. Other than all this i find it cleans very well. Only 1 floor unless you have the time it takes to reset, remap, then clean each floor. I dont.

I’ve tried a few robot vacuums over the years, and this Roomba 504 has easily been the best by far. The suction is powerful enough to actually lift pet hair and dust instead of just moving it around, and the LiDAR mapping is spot-on. It navigates neatly around furniture, doesn’t slam into walls, and somehow manages to cover every inch of the floor without missing spots.
The self-emptying dock is a total game-changer. I used to have to empty my old robot’s bin almost daily, but now it just empties itself and keeps going. It really can go weeks without me touching it, which makes it feel like I’ve outsourced cleaning altogether.
The obstacle detection is smarter than I expected, too — it avoids cords, shoes, and even my dog’s toys without getting tangled up. Setup was quick, and the app makes it super easy to customize cleaning schedules or target certain rooms.
For the cost, this thing is honestly the best value I’ve found. It performs like a top-tier model, keeps my floors spotless, and saves me a ton of time. If you’re looking for a robot vacuum that actually delivers on what it promises, this is the one to get.

This was my first robot vacuum and I won’t go back to life without one. The Roomba is ready to use right out of the box and the app only takes a few minutes to set up. The digital manual is clear and easy to follow. After unpacking and plugging in the dock, you can schedule cleanings and watch progress live in the app. It maps and labels rooms and levels so you can select specific areas to clean, and it detects stairs so it won’t fall. I was amazed at how clean my floors were after the first run — not a speck of dust left — and it navigated around furniture and kids’ toys effortlessly. When finished it returns to the dock and empties itself. Easy, efficient, and perfect for our needs.

This is my first experience with a robot vacuum and I am never going back to life without one.
The Roomba arrives ready to use straight out of the box, and takes only minutes to set up the accompanying app. I found the digital owner’s manual clear and easy to follow. Once you have the Roomba and docking station unpacked and plugged in, you can set your cleaning schedule and track its progress live all through the app. You are able to map and label all the different rooms and levels of your home, and can pick and choose individual rooms or levels to clean. The Roomba can sense stairs and will not fall down them.
I was really impressed with my floors after the first cleaning. Not a spec of dust was left behind, and watching it maneuver around furniture and kids toys with ease was really satisfying. When the Roomba completes its cleaning program it goes back to the docking station and empties the dust back into the dock. It’s just so easy, efficient and perfect for our needs.

I received my Roomba 504+ last night and set it up today. Unpacking and preparation were very easy, and connecting to my 5G Wi‑Fi was quick. After downloading the iPhone app and reading the manual, I started mapping. The app, however, is crude and limited—I’d give it 2 stars. It’s not intuitive or very functional, and I nearly returned the Roomba after fighting with it most of the day.
The main problem: my entire first-floor map was too large for one mission. The Roomba would run halfway, return to recharge, then resume but lose all prior progress and start over. I couldn’t find any way to resume where it left off, which seems like a software bug. To work around this, I split the map into reasonable rooms (using merge/split), named them, and vacuumed room by room. I also set different suction levels and pass counts per room based on traffic to optimize battery use, and launched automations for each room one at a time. I’m still learning the app and haven’t figured out how to chain automations by day/time yet.
I decided to keep the Roomba and keep testing. The hardware is very good—excellent LiDAR mapping, strong cleaning power, and plenty of configuration options—so I give the hardware 4 stars. My only real complaint is that Roomba desperately needs to improve their app.

I received my Roomba 504+ last evening and set it up today for first time use. It was very easy to unpack and prepare for use. The wifi connection to my 5G router was quick and easy. After downloading the associated Ap on my iphone, I found and read the user manual and used the Ap to start mapping. In my opinion, the Ap is very crude and weak in functionality and usability. I give it a 2star rating. Because it was not intuitive or very diversely functional. I came very close to returning this Roomba after fighting with it most the day! However I persisted trying different options on the Ap until I figured the whole first floor map was too large to vacuum in one mission. Each time the roomba would get halfway thru the map then need to go recharge the battery. After recharging it resumed vacuuming but all prior progress on the map was lost and the vacuum would start over at the beginning of the map. This has to be an error in the software. I could never find a way to resume where it last left off. To work around this problem I searched and experimented until I was able to divide the map into reasonable sized rooms, using merge and split, named the rooms and then vacuumed by room. I also set different vacuum settings for each room to optimize the battery power. I adjusted suction and # of passes per room according to usual amount of traffic. Then I started launching an automation for each Room, one by one. Im still learning the Ap so havent discovered how to string automations together by day/time. But at least Ive decided to keep this Roomba and continue testing it. The actual hardware is very good. It has good lidar mapping, good cleaning power and very configurable. I gave it 4stars for the quality and functionality of the hardware. My only complaint is that Roomba desperately needs to improve their Ap.

Great Prime Day find — this vacuum cleans extremely well and has helped keep our home tidy. It’s a bit louder than I anticipated (our previous vacuum was unusually quiet), but the excellent cleaning performance makes the noise easy to overlook.

Can you fall in love with a vacuum? I did.
The Roomba app lets me map three levels of my house, name them, and divide them into rooms so I can clean everything or just selected areas. It handles rugs, LVP and carpet without missing a beat and navigates around chair and table legs, even trying different angles to get through tight spots. It will go under the bed if there’s enough clearance. I usually pick things up off the floor out of respect for its work, then run the smart or deep clean routines. When it needs a charge, it finds its dock and recharges automatically.
Both the Roomba and its dock are lightweight, so carrying them between floors is easy. You should see the dirt it collects every time. The auto-empty feature works well, though I still sometimes empty the bin and bag myself. The app makes scheduling simple, so I run it about every other day. The feeling of a consistently clean home is priceless—don’t wait, treat yourself to this time-saving piece of tech.

Despite the product description, this model cannot map more than one floor. The app is extremely basic. I spent two days in online chats with four different agents — all friendly, but each gave different instructions and assurances that it would map multiple floors. One agent even asked me to select options that don’t exist in the app. I was disconnected for taking too long while they “researched.” Eventually I discovered a factory reset on the robot itself, which let it map the second floor, but then I had to reset and remap and clean each floor separately. This is misleading advertising — update the description. On the plus side it cleans very well, but it only effectively maps one floor unless you have the time to repeatedly reset and remap, which I don’t.

Very easy set up and mapped my room very quickly, avoiding socks, blankets etc. I have 2 dogs and 2 kids, so this thing is a HUGE time saver and the fact it holds 75 days worth of dirt is AMAZING. The app is really intuitive and it’s pretty quiet while it’s doing its thing in the living room.
