Google Review QR Code Generator

Paste the review link from your Google Business Profile and this makes a printable code for it — captioned, coloured, and sized for the distance it will be read from. Google can generate a plain review QR itself, so use this when the code has to sit inside artwork you control, like a table tent or a counter card.

Drops the customer straight onto your review form.

Both matter. Distance decides how big the code has to look; the printer decides how small a module it can hold. Whichever asks for more is the size to print.

Google Business Profile generates a review QR code for you. If a plain black square on a plain white background is what you need, take Google’s and stop reading — it is the same destination and it costs you nothing.

What it does not do is put that destination inside artwork. A table tent with your colours on it, a counter card with a caption, a sheet of sixteen codes sized in real millimetres for the printer — that is the gap this fills, and it is the only honest reason to use a third-party tool for a link Google already hands you.

Start from the link Google gave you

Open your Business Profile, choose the option to ask for reviews, and copy the short `g.page/r/…/review` link it produces. Paste that. Do not build a link by hand from a search result, and do not use a Maps listing URL — they go to different places, and only the review link opens the review form directly.

Sizing a table tent properly

A review code lives on a physical object read from a specific distance, and getting that wrong is the most common reason these underperform. There are two floors, and they move independently.

The familiar rule is that a code should be about a tenth of the distance it is read from. It is worth knowing that this rule is in no standard at all — not ISO/IEC 18004, not DENSO WAVE’s guidance, not GS1’s. It is a vendor convention that everyone repeats. It is a reasonable starting point and it is not the whole answer.

The other floor comes from the printer. DENSO WAVE’s actual guidance is that each module should get at least four printer dots, which is about 0.34 mm per module at 300 dpi and 0.17 mm at 600 dpi. That floor scales with how much data is in the code, not with distance — so a long review link needs a bigger card than a short one even when both sit on the same table.

Do

  • Use the g.page review link from your own Business Profile.
  • Keep four clear modules of margin on every side of the symbol.
  • Print one, put it on a table, and scan it from where a customer sits.

Don't

  • Offer a discount, a free drink or a prize draw for leaving a review.
  • Shorten the link. It is already short, and a shortener adds a service that can fail.
  • Cover 30% of the code with a logo because level H mentions 30%.

Frequently asked questions

Why use this when Google makes a review QR code already?

For the printing, not the code. Google gives you a plain symbol for the same destination, which is fine on its own. This adds captions, colours, a real vector file, and an A4 sheet laid out in millimetres so it prints at the size it claims — the things you need when the code goes on a table tent rather than a screen.

Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?

No. Google's review policy prohibits offering incentives for reviews, and that applies however the code was generated. Keep the caption to what the code does. A prompt to leave a review is fine; making anything conditional on leaving one is not.

Where do I find my Google review link?

In your Google Business Profile, choose the option to ask for reviews. It produces a short g.page/r/…/review link, which is the one to paste here. A Maps listing URL is not the same thing — it opens the listing rather than the review form, which costs you the customers who will not go hunting for the button.

How big should a table-tent QR code be?

Work it out from both the reading distance and the printer rather than from a rule of thumb. The tool takes each and reports whichever demands more. Then leave the four-module quiet zone clear, print one, and scan it from a seated customer’s actual position before you print fifty.
