1,440 minutes, from 24 hours of 60 minutes each. A week is 10,080, a 30-day month is 43,200 and a 365-day year is 525,600. The only exceptions are the two clock-change days a year, which run 1,380 and 1,500 minutes where they are observed.
A leap year is 527,040 minutes. The familiar 525,600 assumes 365 days and quietly drops the extra day.

The formula, worked line by line
One multiplication, by a constant that is exact twice over: the day is 24 hours by convention and the hour is 60 minutes by definition, so 1,440 involves no measurement and no averaging. The only judgement is whether the day you mean is a calendar day or a working one.

That break at 24 is why day arithmetic is harder than hour arithmetic. Below the day everything nests in sixties and the divisions are clean. At the day the base changes, at the week it changes again to seven, and at the month it stops being a whole number at all.

Sixty minutes either way is a rounding error in a monthly total and a real problem in a billing period, a shift roster or an SLA. Which it is depends entirely on what the number is being used for.
Working days rather than calendar days
If the days are working days, 1,440 is the wrong constant. An eight-hour day is 480 minutes, so a five-day week is 2,400 rather than 10,080. That is a quarter of the calendar figure, and mixing the two is the single most common error in capacity planning.
Why minutes and not hours
Minutes survive as a unit because so much is scheduled in them: appointment slots, call plans, transit headways, machine cycles. Converting a span into minutes is usually a step towards asking how many of something fits inside it, rather than a way of describing the span itself.

The working figures assume eight hours a day and five days a week, before any public holidays. They are illustrations of the method, not an entitlement or a standard.
How to use the days to minutes converter
Multiply by 1,440. A day is 24 hours and an hour is 60 minutes, both exactly, so the constant carries no uncertainty. The conversion becomes interesting only at scale, where the numbers stop being intuitive and start being the sort of figure people quote at each other without checking.
The famous one is 525,600, a year of 365 days. It is accurate and it is also a choice: a leap year is 527,040 minutes, and a Gregorian mean year of 365.2425 days is 525,949. All three are correct answers to slightly different questions, and the difference between the first two is a full day of 1,440 minutes.

Minutes are the natural unit when a duration has to be compared against something billed or scheduled in minutes: call time, machine time, appointment slots, transit headways. Converting days into minutes is usually the first step in working out how many of something fits, rather than an end in itself.
Whether the arithmetic holds across a span depends on where the span sits. Two dates 30 days apart are 43,200 minutes apart only if no clock change falls between them; if one does, the true elapsed time is 43,140 or 43,260. The calendar difference and the elapsed difference are not the same quantity.

The year in minutes, three ways
A year has no single minute count, and the three candidates are far enough apart to matter. A common year is 525,600 minutes. A leap year is 527,040. The Gregorian mean year, which is the average the leap rule is designed to produce, is 525,949 minutes and about twelve seconds.

The mean year is right for comparing durations, the common year for the familiar figure, and the leap year for a specific year that happens to have 366 days. What is never right is quoting one and meaning another.
The same choice runs through every conversion between a day and a year on this site, and it is stated on each page rather than buried. Below the day, every unit is a whole-number ratio and no choice arises. At and above the year, a constant has to be picked and defended.
When multiplying by 1,440 does not hold
Two cases break the arithmetic, and both are about the difference between a calendar day and an elapsed one. In regions observing seasonal clock changes, one civil day a year is 23 hours and another is 25, so those days contain 1,380 and 1,500 minutes rather than 1,440.

A leap second lands in the last minute of a UTC day, making that minute 61 seconds long. Twenty-seven have been inserted since 1972 and none since January 2017.
The practical rule is to multiply by 1,440 for durations and to use a date library for spans between two real timestamps. The first is arithmetic on a quantity; the second is arithmetic on a calendar, and only the calendar knows where the transitions fall in the region you care about.
