The formula, worked line by line
One division by an exact constant, and one decision that the constant does not make for you. A civil day is 24 hours of 60 minutes, so 1,440 minutes, with no averaging involved. Whether 1,440 is the right divisor for your question is the part worth thinking about.

The condition is the whole rule. Rounding is permitted because it is expected to average out, which means a scheme that cannot average out is not covered by the permission at all. That is why "the seven-minute rule" is a description of symmetric rounding rather than a licence to discard minutes.

Six days and change, or four working weeks. Both are correct answers to different questions, and the difference between them is why the divisor should always be stated alongside the result.
Working days are not a fixed constant
An eight-hour day is a convention, not a definition. Shift patterns run to ten and twelve hours, part-time schedules run shorter, and any conversion from minutes to working days inherits whichever figure you chose. Say which one you used; a reader cannot infer it from the answer.
Where a minute-level limit genuinely applies
Most duty and driving rules are written in hours rather than minutes, but not all of them. US commercial driving rules require a consecutive thirty-minute interruption before more than eight hours of driving time have passed, which is a limit expressed at the minute level rather than the hour level.

How to use the minutes to days converter
A day is 24 hours of 60 minutes, so 1,440 minutes, and the division is exact. Nobody converts a small number of minutes into days, which tells you something about who is on this page: the figure is a total that has accumulated, and the interesting question is what it is a total of.
That matters because the divisor changes with the question. Elapsed time divides by 1,440. Worked time usually divides by 480, an eight-hour day, and the two answers differ by a factor of three. Reporting 10,000 minutes as "seven days" when it means twenty working days is the most common error here, and it is not an arithmetic one.

Timesheets are where accumulated minutes most often turn into money, and the arithmetic there is regulated. US rules permit recording start and stop times to the nearest five minutes, tenth of an hour or quarter hour — but only on the reasoning that rounding averages out, and only where it does not, over time, fail to pay employees for the hours they actually worked.
The California position is worth stating precisely rather than as a slogan. Rounding meal-period punches has been prohibited outright. The broader question of ordinary shift rounding has been decided against employers in the appellate courts but is still pending before the state Supreme Court, so it is a live issue rather than a settled rule.

The two days a year that are not 1,440 minutes
In any place that changes its clocks, one day a year has 1,380 minutes and another has 1,500. The spring transition removes an hour and the autumn one restores it, so the civil day is 23 or 25 hours long while the underlying day is unaffected. Anything computing elapsed time by multiplying days by 1,440 is wrong twice a year.

The two cancel out across the year, which is exactly why the error survives: an annual total looks right while every individual day around a transition is wrong.
The rules are statutory and differ by region. US clocks advance at two in the morning on the second Sunday in March and return on the first Sunday in November, with states free to stay on standard time. EU clocks move on the last Sundays of March and October. The EU vote to end seasonal changes never became law, and transition dates continue to be published.
When accumulated minutes become a payroll question
A minute total that represents worked time is not a neutral quantity. It is the input to a wage calculation, and the rules about how it may be rounded exist because small systematic errors at the minute level become large ones at the year level. Seven minutes a shift, across 260 shifts, is 1,820 minutes — close to four working days.
